Rigondeaux, GGG, both Danny and Mikey Garcia, Thurman and Kovalev have proven they are for real.

Wilder, Russell Jr and Crawford are unproven.

Broner failed miserably, the whole event was supposed to be his coming out party, the matchmaker was on his side, he had his choice of ring size, he was the house fighter, the ref gave him every chance he could... He looked for an easy way out (by faking the blow to the chin), the guy was on a rap tour, talk about lack of disipline. He also has by far the most proven glass chin in boxing right now.

You don't know what you're on about putting Chocolatito there. He's been a proven champ for years now. Sure his competiton for the most part may be a little lackluster, but he has fought top opponents and beaten them, and has been in multiple wars.

macklin hung with martinez for 10 or 11 but as ward put it was in distress and ran from golovkin as soon as he got touched a couple times in the first round.

Broner really does have a better list of opposition than several others listed in the OP and other guys getting more relative praise for level of opposition... Better opposition and resume than Wilder, Thurman, and Russell Jr. and debatable opposition and resume with beloved and universally praised and covered fighters GGG, Kovalev, and Santa Cruz.


OP lists Rigondeaux (W Donaire), Roman Gonzalez (W Niida), and Garcia (either W Matthysse or Salido). Those guys already have passed whatever bar is set needed to prove elite status.

Thats why the backlash was so strong against him. the media fell for all his talk and were hyping him up as the next great and he got exposed. none of those fighters on the ops list is proclaiming to be the greatest thing ever and disrespecting the sport. if they get beat they get beat and it wont make anywhere near the waves broner losing did.
