Bute was knocked down with about 5 seconds left or less.

I counted to 9 fast, and Bute beat the 10 count although he did wobble into the ropes after popping up which the ref could've signaled Bute unable to continue or hear the final bell.

All Bute had to do was get up and he wins if the ref didn't rule him unable to continue.

Could the ref have ruled Bute unable to continue had he not had to warn Andrade about going to a neutral corner? Yes and No.

Would the ref have looked into Bute's eyes and stopped it, or let Bute finish the fight even though there was no time on the clock?

The ref didn't know how much time was left on the clock, so it would have been his judgement to stop it or not.

Both fighters fought their hearts out.

True but the ref took the opportunity for; 1. Bute to beat the count and 2.Andrade to score the KO and 3. Us to witness a historic finish with 1 or 2:bart

Bolo, there were less than 5 seconds left when Bute went down, he got up at 9. Forget the controversey and either count to 10 or use a stop watch or any kind of watch. Bute was up at 9. It was a judgement call at best to either let Bute contnue or stop the fight. There was no time for Andrade to throw another punch anyway. Either the ref stops the fight or he rules Bute unable to continue. As soon as the ref waves them to fight, the bell rings because there is no time left.

If a fighter can't stand up on his own, is leaning on the ropes and/or can't walk towards you..then your judgement call gets a little easier.

The ref took none of the measures to even see if Bute could stand up without the aid of the ropes or whether Bute could walk without the heroin lean.

Either way it doesn't matter. It's just another one in the long lineage of boxing f*ck ups by incompetent refs.

quick question: would you rather a fighter win a fight based on punishing the other fighter for 10 rounds, or would you rather a fighter win based on getting punished for 10 rounds and winning by last minute tko?...

It doesn't matter; a win's a win by any means you can get it.

I agree. Andrade had built his fight to obtain this result, he took the punishment, he won the war and he TKOed Bute. He was robbed of his TKO. But the rematch will be great. IBF is very corrupt but Bute will be obliged to fight Andrade again imo.

You can hear the 10 second slap on the canvas a few seconds before he goes down, the fight was over. All Bute had to do was beat the refs count and he did, the ref was horrible but it would have been a worst call if he stopped it at 3:15 of the 12 round.

It's easier to beat when he counts 6 twice

Regardless it would have been controversial, imagine the crowd seeing the ref stop the fight after he gets up and has won 9-10 rounds.

****ed if you do ****ed if you don't, I think people are more pissed off because the Ref was pretty much **** the whole fight.

I want a rematch with Steve Smoger getting the gig.
