Yeah, I was just going to mention the same thing. Boxing shoes can do wonders for your balance versus using gym shoes.
By the way, SS, I thought you did a hell of a job! I'll drop my two cents in, but take it with a grain of salt, because I haven't had any fights yet myself. There were a couple moments (one example is around 2:35-40 of the video, but there are a couple other similar moments) where he kinda put his head down and turtled toward you. And as he did this you let this little flurry go with both hands, but the punches were more like slaps (you seemed to be landing them with the palm side of your gloves) and they didn't seem to be doing much to him. I really wanted to slow down just a tad there, maybe take a step back to put a little distance between the two of you, put a couple straight punches together. You know what I mean? I wanted you to make each punch count a little more in those situations. Like I said, though, I thought you did a hell of a job. Better than I could do, that's for sure.
Yeah, I wanted him to pivot off to the side and throw an upper cut to the teeth. This content is protected
I love doing this! I wanna get in a couple more fights! I mean, **** its a different feeling I cant explain!
No need to explain, we know. Or at least those of us who compete do. I hope you get another bout soon! :thumbsup
Great first fight! Keep training, listen to your coach. You did good. Later, Bob Barnum http://www.PittsburghBoxing.com
I will definitely join the next one on April. It is easier to get bouts here, you just need to sign up. Next time I promise to be better, and hopefully I get the W
I agree with your observation. That was what stood out to me. Fantastic effort though, especially for a first fight, you did really well. :good
Coz its a tournament that happens in the country twice a year only. April and November. I'd be lucky if there are other tournaments but they happen once in a blue moon only.
hey congtrats! :good You fought a good fight! especially for your first fight. Some observations i made were When he got you on the ropes like at the end of a exchange he would lean on you? and you might know this but i'll say just in case. The reason for that is to tire you out. it takes none of his energy to lean on you but quite a bit of energy to push him off. so as a future reference you could try maybe twisting him around? so hes in that position? hope that makes sense second i thought you carried your hands really wide. and there was a huge gap showing your face. and 3rd well done you actually mantained a boxing technique and ive seen plenty of first timers come out and just throw to KO. doesnt work :good you did good. next time you'll hopefully get the W
Hey man congrats on the fight... dont worry bout the loss.. keep ya head up and remeber by gettin in the ring u did something alot of people would never do
All has been said already, I can only agree. That was not a bad fight at all don't be so hard on yourself. You did not panic, you did not go wild. You could have jabbed more perhaps, but that's always easy to say in hindsight. I also agree with Kolya on your stance, if you square up those arms need to be closer together. His right hand connected because it went through the middle of your guard. I think being less square on is better. Respect! :good
Guys, after watching the vid over and over again, Im starting to feel down. My form sucks, my footwork sucks, didnt land any punches at all. I know Im not supposed to feel like this but I just couldnt help it. Im more motivated than ever to train hard and get back at the gym.
