Guys i need your serious opinion

Man, thanks for sharing all this with us. I am from PR and live there and if I was in your position I would take it if you really feel that your son can win convincingly.

Home town decisions happens anywhere... just ask Paulie. Definately don't even think about Kenny Galarza and that TBA in Miami doesn't sound bad either but they need to guarantee the purse, of course.

 

It sounds like you've got plenty of offers coming in. Josh ain't tryin' to win a race! He's building a career. Take your time and make the best choices. The Miami fight might be a good choice, IF they'll name TBA within a week or so.

 

I have a certain mind set that says "protect your prospect!" I watched Davey Moore's metoric rise to the top, and then watched him get slaughtered by Duran. On the other end of the spectrum, ask yourself, how did Grady Brewer, a very good fighter, end up a 38 year old nobody with 11 losses? Ray Seales, an Olympic medalist, ended up half blind fighting for lunch money. Nobody took care of these guys. They just exploited them. I'm sure I don't have to tell you boxing is a dirty and mean business. Fighters who don't have anyone to take care of them end up broke and brain damaged. Josh has you!

 

Right to me the TBA fight is the most dangerous fight because it gives the dude little time to prepare and with nothing to rest your laurels on.

I'd probably take the other fight originally offered to you. 10-0 with 10 KOs (and his youtube videos suggest he's a somewhat legit prospect) lead me to believe that fight is more dangerous than this one. As we've seen on many occasions, losses early on do not hurt a prospect so long as he's strong enough mentally to get over it. If he's already been robbed once, he knows the feeling. Even though it';s never a good feeling to know that your best may not be enough for some people (judges), he knows deep down inside he won the fight. As long as you keep his confidence high, a risk isn't the worst thing in the world.

The Galarza fight would be a definite no no for me.

 

I've seen you say the otherwise on a number of occasions. I'm wondering if yer picking and choosing when to protect said prospect.

 

I've heard some buzz about Melendez. A friend of mine who still lives on the island says he's a pretty decent prospect.

Just remember that you don't HAVE to accept a fight...don't take one just to take one Fred. If none of the offers are interesting, simply step away. A "Thanks but no thanks" is better than picking a fight you don't think you can win.

 

where did that take place? just like I have mention if your worried about fighting in other hometowns, then boxing is not the sport for his team. I still dont think this fight should take place for your boy, short notice and he already has a great buzz around his area, no need to rush things esp. if hes not fully train.

 

Def. dont put him against kenny. Kid has one beautifulllllllll left hook and good skills. Big risk, dont take it at this moment.

 

Yeah Galarza seems to already have a fight schedueled. Anyways, I know it's been said before, but between the short notice and having to travel to the guys hometown I personally don't think it's a good idea.

 

It looks like there is no easy options for your boy. All these fighters look/sound impressive.
If only the competition at the very top of the sport was as intense!
