Another thread got me thinking about this - who can you think of that only lost in title fights? George Groves, Carl Froch, Lennox Lewis, Tim Bradley, there will be loads !
I don`t think losing to Kalambay in a European title fight should count on this thread, that is a much lower level than when he lost in world title fights, even vs the less than steller Brewer, it was still a world title fight, the Kalambay fight was just at Euro level, before Kalambay beat McCallum who went on to beat Graham in a world title fight.
I thought the thread meant world title fights, the British title means nothing, Graham was finished at that point and had just lost a rematch to Kalambay again in another meaningles Euro title fight, Kalambay and Graham were both coming to the end at that point.
Did you mean ‘only lost in title fights and never held a title’? Coz that would make more sense, if not there’s literally thousands man.respect
True, it seemed a good idea for a thread at a time but then realised how many people it would include I'll put it down to my head being clouded by man flu, and we can all move on to better threads
Vitali Klitschko Sultan ibragimov Ruslan chagaev Alexander Povetkin Daniel jacobs Canelo (both ggg fights) Rigondeaux Lomachenko Arthur abraham
I get the impression you are enquiring about fighter's who weren't like established champs who lost a fight on their journey like L Lewis But more of a case of fighter's who were beating or competitive against top fighter's but lost in title fights won some other fights and lost again sort of thing. Waynne McCullough's first 6 losses were all in world title fights He had a record of 27-6 Losses only in world title fights He did lose a comeback fight years after which wasn't a world title fight but I thought he was a good example For a while Robin Reid if you include WBU title fights
