Saw it on Youtube...Look he is a good fighter but just out of his class with a guy like Sturm i mean damn that guy in my eyes beat Oscar de la hoya and was robbed so going in Pittman was always in for a hard fight. He will learn from it at least and come back better I hope.
Had he fought an American style fighter, he can win. Strum had great double cover, good in and out. Pittman has fast hands, long reach. It showed he had only 16 fights. Now he has after his eye heals enough money to hire good sparing partners.... He is @ as fast as Strum, but Strum was that little bit more accurate, that little bit more patient, and had slightly better cover. The head butt, casued by Pittman himself, casue his eye to swell shut. It was already swelling form a Strum power shot. I had Pitman winning only the second round, another tight round he had it until the last coupel of seconds, wehn Strum got in two good hands. After the cut, Sturm was able to take advantage of it. Pittman may have set a bit too high a pace in the first four rounds...but he has nothing to be ashamed of. First KD looked like a solar plaexus heart shot, a liver shot put him down or helped the next time....I didn't tape the fight.... Your boy did ok. Essentially he was taking too much punsihment through not being able to see out of his right eye. He did not try to swich stances, which I expected once he got the cut. He needs to work on his jab, I had the feeling, it was too much chickenwing, elbow off the side of the body, telegraphing. But then so was Strum's. Strum did a lot of feinting. Pittman should stay at middle as long as possible in he has good reach and hight for Middle. I see no reason he should not improve to be a better contender and get a title shot in a couple of years where he has a better chance. He is fast enough. Needs to work at standing higher, and see if he can fight soem Americans who are easier to hit. Strum was at the top of his game last night. Pittman needs to work a bit more on his double coverage when pressed. A good brave fighter.
