Where did you read that? I’m not too familiar with the scoring system back then but I’m positive Frazier wasn’t losing every round.

Frazier wasn’t actually losing by 15 points, that’s the cumulative difference on all 3 scorecards.
    Here are the scores:

The combined average works out two 134 to 132, or eight rounds to six.

I'm not saying Frazier lost every round, he actually won several, but if you check boxrec, Frazier was behind a total of 15 points on all three judges' scorecards. I think Ali pilled most of those points up in the last three rounds though, as the 1st 10 rounds were very close.

that's what I meant, that that was the total amount of points that Frazier was behind. Since Ali was the champ, even if Frazier could get a draw, Ali would still retain the title, and I don't even think Frazier could have scored that many points in the last round.

Cleveland Williams was never beating Ali. And I say that as one of the very few who defend him.

I agree with you, even the Big Cat Williams before he was shot on Nov 30 1964.

I do think he would've put up a much better fight and even given Ali some trouble but the outcome will never be in doubt.

Best for best Ali would never be able to hang with Cleveland Williams. The best he could hope for is hearing that final bell.

That's not the fight I saw. Ali might have been ahead but the margin shouldn't have been anywhere those scores. It might have been even.

That clears up my confusion. So they added up all of the scorecards back then? Or was it like today they just awarded less points each round?

Alright sounds good. Like I said it’s the only fighter that Ali beat that I think might have been able to beat him in a fight he lost. Everyone else that lost to Ali wouldn’t have been able to beat him imo with the obvious exceptions like Jimmy Young.

They were using a 5-point must scoring system, referee Carlos Padilla Jr. had the champion ahead, 66-60. Judge Quiazon had it 67-62 and Judge Nadayag had it 66-62.

I was also confused above when braking scoring down by rounds rounds. Actually, on a rounds basis, Quiazon had Ali ahead 8-3, with three even. The others each had it 8-4-2.

The associated press saw your way and had it even.
