I know the title probably sounds contradictory, but who are fighters that tend to get knocked down alot, but actually have good chins?

I've been watching a bunch of Sergio Martinez fights, and he seems to actually have a great chin. He has been knocked down quite a bit, but he never seems hurt at all. He gets up at like the count of 1 or 2, isn't wobbly at all, and almost seems to just be disappointed. It seems like his unorthodox footwork and being off balance tend to get him knocked down, especially when the force of a punch kinda pushes him in the direction he is already going, yet he doesn't ever seem to be visibly hurt or shaken in the slightest bit. In the Pavlik and Williams fights he took enormous shots when he did have his balance, and seems to be able to take a great punch.

Any other fighters who got knocked down alot who had good chins?

Calzaghe is similar to Sergio in that regard. I actually think Calzaghe came on stronger after getting knocked down.

    chavez scrambled sergios brain

  6. Marquez. Gets knocked around like a useless ragdoll most of the time but finds a way to stay up . Could be the PEDs though, God knows how long he has been injecting himself.

Lets see if his chin holds up on 4/20. I'm not sure USS can take HW power.

Marquez and Gamboa sprang immediately to mind.

Razor Ruddock, too, actually. Yeah, stopped a bunch of times but think about how many KD's he rose from in the process in most of those.

Plus, you know, going 12 with a motivated near-prime Tyson.

Ahhh Naseem Hamed, that's too true, he was very prone to getting knocked down, but had a solid beard.

Every boxer gets hurt at some point, Martinez still has a solid chin. Chavez Jr. was a good size cruiserweight on fight night.

I'm not even going to bother with your trolling.

JMM imo doesn't fit this category, he IS generally hurt bad when he is knocked down, just has great recuperative ability.

Whitaker got a lot of off-balance type knockdowns, but was never knocked out and stood up to the firepower of a lot of heavy hitters without ever being in real danger of being knocked out.

Not sure either but i wouldn't call Fury a monster puncher, being a 6ft9 behemoth.

There are only two possibilities how
someone can have a good chin and get knocked down
    1. he has a style/lack of (defensive) skill which leave him vulnerable
    2. he actually has a bad chin but good recovery skills, this is probably the case
with most boxers who get knocked down often
