Taylor threw punches in bunches, often arm punches, but sometimes with more leverage, and went to the body more. He wasn't the defensive fighter Mayweather is.

Taylor was beating Chavez in large part because of his insane workrate. That smug Ferdie Pacheco was saying "Whitaker is fighting just like Meldrick Taylor". No. Whitaker was using movement and angles, Taylor spent a lot of the fight at close to mid range, taking hard shots but outworking and outlanding Chavez.
