Wasn't critising your pick, just don't feel comfortable putting someone as great as Homicide Hank in the same category as Norton, Fullmer etc. As i said though it maybe just my understanding of the OP's query.

 

Tommy Hearns is the first one that came to mind.

But Saldivar and Fullmer are great shouts.

Beau Jack was another that could deal with most slicksters.

Pretty much everyone mentioned so far was very, very skilled at what they did, Mayorga notwithstanding.

Swarmers are the stylistic foil for slicksters, but you're assuming a bit too much to say that the latter are always more 'skilled.'

How about Joey Maxim who beat Robinson, Freddie Mills, Bivins, Satterfield, Jersey Joe and pushed Ezzard all the way about 4 times

 

Maybe Norton was poison for Ali, Holmes and Young.

But I think Norton's skills matched the skills of those fighters. It's not as if he was a less-skilled fighter who proved troublesome for skilled boxers. Norton was a real cagey guy with excellent defense against other intelligent boxers.

If anything Norton is an example of a skilled boxer who had trouble with a power-punchers. That was more of a mental thing that a technical deficiency.

 

Norton had a problem with punchers because he couldn't fight backing up, that's why he gave trouble to people who couldn't back him up. He basically walked into punches.
