Guys who would've had noticeably greater legacies if they got the just decisions?

I'll start off with two guys.

    1) Ike Quartey - I'm sure if you polled ESB on who won the De La Hoya fight, the majority would say he did. Majority only means 50.1% or greater. And he got robbed against Forrest. Imagine him having those two wins as official?

    2) Winky Wright - Again, poll people on who they thought won the Taylor and Vargas fights and i'm sure the majority will say Winky. I thought a draw was just in the Taylor fight but i think if anyone won that fight, it was Winky. Also, think if DLH had agreed to fight Winky around 2004. Not some catch weight but for legit supremacy of the 154 lb division. That would've been huge for Winky.

    Add yours as you please.

Hearns vs. Leonard in the rematch. That would mean he would have beaten everyone except Marvin. Cueves,Benitez,Leonard,Duran.

de la hoya would have the marquee big/super fight win thats lacking on his resume
B-hop not saying they were robberies but very close losses to taylor and calzaghe if one or two goes his way it makes his legacy even better

Erik Morales vs Barrera II - Already 1-0 up, if Morales had gotten this decision as he should have then there would be no need for a 3rd fight & Erik would have went down without question as the best Mexican fighter of his generation especially when you consider he had beat Jones & would go on to beat Pacman, both guys that beat Barrera handily.

Vs David Diaz - Despite a sudden fall from being an elite fighter with consecutive losses to Pacman x 2 & Raheem, Morales bounced back well past his best & beat David Diaz for the WBC LWT title in Diaz`s hometown but didnt get the verdict he deserved, had he got that decision, he would have become the 1st Mexican born fighter to win titles in 4 weight classes, all WBC at that.

Morales is a greater fighter than history will show on paper because of bad judging IMO.

People are saying Glen Johnson, but not really specifying fights.

We may have had more wins, but would his legacy be any greater? It's mainly founded on beating Roy Jones anyway.

Which of the close points defeats would have been legacy-enhancing if they went the other way? Gonzales? Maybe a little. Woods? Sheika?

Ok go ahead and give the Tito fight to Oscar were he ran for 4 full rounds.

But please take away his win against Felix Sturm, Ike Quartey and Whittiker.

yeah that would be about right.

It's arguable that Hopkins legacy would have been inferior if he'd won a decision against Taylor.

Taylor wouldn't have been a particularly notable name on his resume at the time and Hopkins may have retired rather than move up.

You could add Harry Simon to Winky's list as well. Maybe not a robbery as it was a close fight but there were enough who thought Winky won. Not that the win would have significantly enhanced his resume, but the loss does tarnish it a bit as Simon didn't go on to do much for various reasons.

    Luis Manuel Rodriguez.

Most on hear probably have never heard of him but he is one of the greatest welters to lace them up.
He was around in a very hard era fighting guys like Emile Griffith and Curtis Cokes.

His non-title record is crazy, he beat so many great contenders of the day but was only actually champ for a short amount of time.
He won the title from Griffith (in their second match) only to lose it to him in a rematch which by reports was a robbery. Their 4th match, again a title fight, was also a split decision which Griffith took. I dont know the details of that fight.

If he had got those close decisions to go his way he would have been remembered by a lot more boxing fans, not just the ones who cared to look into him.

Juan Manuel Marquez. All of his losses and the one draw were close. Had he gotten the decisions against pacman and against John, he'd be regarded right up there with Morales and Barrera. Instead most people have him right below them
