Anybody know how heavy Guzman gets between fights?

It wouldn't surprise me if the guy walks around at around 175 lbs.

Very unprofessional from Guzman, again. Shaw said they won't fight him if he is that far over the limit. So, again, Guzman is going to cost his opponents money and waste televsion dates. I really hope he never lands a television spot again, thats if anyone is ever willing to gamble on fighting him in the first place. He has ruined his own career.

Just in: Tomorrow night’s 12-rounder between Joan Guzman (29-0-1, 17 KOs) and Ali Funeka (30-2-3, 25 KOs) is still on – but it will not be for the IBF lightweight title, at least for one of the fighters. Earlier today, Guzman weighed in nine pounds heavy, at 144, while Funeka made weight at 135. A deal was struck between camps allowing the fight to go on – providing that Guzman does not weigh more than 150 lbs. tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. If Funeka defeats the overweight Guzman, he will also be allowed to bring the IBF lightweight title home to South Africa.

    Jesus wept.

When I saw the thread title I thought it had to be a joke - I didn't think anyone, even someone with a history of struggling to make weight, could possibly be that much overweight.

They must have known for at least a week that he didn't have a prayer of making 135 but they didn't bother to tell Funeka's team - inexcusable. I used to be a fan of Guzmans but it's hard to imagine he'll have any fans left after this.

    Cool news.

Funeka got that bad chin though, Guzman will benefit from being 144lbs.
Lets hope Guzman shows up like he usually does these days, a featherfisted ****.

Guzman obviously cant make the lightweight limit any longer.......but to come in 9 lbs heavy is ridiculous.

The audacity to even show up to the weighin.....

......they should have known a couple of weeks ago they were not going to make weight and told the proper people.......or they could have faked a freakin injury and cancelled the fight altogether......

.....instead they make Funeka needlessly go through the rigors of the final days of training camp and making weight.:-(
