Arthur is a damn good fighter and lets not get carried away with the Gomez loss as any man with one eye could see that it was Arthur trying to please the crowd that cost him the fight, it was his first fight in his hometown and he tried to slug with a slugger. If you watch round 2 he actually boxes Gomez and it was amusing to see how easy he made it look yet his inexperience caused him to get involved in a brawl again after that. If anything that fight proved that Alex has a great chin because he took more flush shots that night than I had seen anyone take and he was not easy to put down.

Guzman is a slickster and the way he throws his shots makes them look powerfull but he hasnt had a KO in years now and I doubt he's gonna get one against one of the physically strongest fighters he has faced in his career.

I am one of those who thinks Guzman would beat Pac but thats because Pac hates slick boxers (imo Marquez has schooled him twice now and the judges gave the decision to the most marketable fighter last time out) and Guzman would outbox him.

Arthur however is a fighter who has great timing and his hooks to the body are lethal (lets not panic about the KD against Foster as Arthur still prevailed and ultimately controlled the fight)

I am not certain of who would win this one but its far from as one sided as people are making out and Guzman also has a record that can be scrutinised, he beat Soto who was a good fighter but in reality if Soto dragged Guzman into the trenches he would have had more success coz Guzman likes to have a little breather in the middle of fights and thats when you strike. Its not a case of outboxing or out speeding him its a case of pouncing on him when he backs off for his little rest and disrupt his pace and only then will we see what Joan has in the guts tank.

Arthur can be a slow starter so if he survives what will probably be an early onslaught then its game on.

Would certainly be cheering on Arthur. Cant say I would be as confident as you are but reckon Arthur would perform a lot better than against Foster and his las few fights. Think being the underdog will do him a lot of good and he will get himself up for the fight better i.e no smiling to the fans after he's been knocked down. Certainly deserves a crack at a world title regardless of whether or not he is good enough at that level. Not sure if its going to take place now which is dissapointing. Warren is always moaning that the attendances are too low at meadowbank but this kind of thing doesn't encourage the casual fans to go. Two weeks since the postponement yet nobody has a clue whats happening and whether or not the fight will take place.

Nice post Shrewd, & its good to know you will be cheering on Arthur my good man, IF the fight happens of course!
As for Warren, hes always been looking for the scottish crowd puller like Wales Joe Calzaghe & Englands Ricky hatton, but he should know by now that boxing in Scotland isnt all that popular a sport. No scottish fighter will ever fill out a football stadium. Boxings simply not a mainstream sport up here anymore sadly enough. Getting 5000 in for a show should be seen as a major success up in these parts. Warren doesnt see it that way though.

As for this postponement malarky, its a shocker. The confidence hs drained out of me now that this fight will ever happen. Hope Im wrong though, but the silence from both camps is deafening:-(
