Won't Arthur become the full WBO champion by default, because he is the interim champ?

Either way, if he gets in the ring with Guzman, or JMM, he is taking a severe beating.

It's a real shame. You can say what you want about the potential result of the fight but at least Arthur had the balls to go through with it.

JMM is ranked number 1 by the WBO, but he is moving up so he would face Roman Martinez for the belt, and Mitchell would be his mandatory.

I think Mitchell should go for the IBF and Arthur should keep the WBO. A unification between the two next summer would be a Huge match at the 02.

I tend to agree. Warren has done his best to ensure his two Scottish cash cows, Arthur and Harrison, never faced the dangerous Guzman

Last year Warren said there was going to be a classic era of all British fights with guys like Arthur, Mitchell, Foster Jr, Matthews, Nicky Cook all getting together. It seems they will do this for the WBO title that will no doubt be awarded to Arthur.

While the credentials of all this as world class is questionable, the WBO belt brings big money and exciting fights in this country (shame they can't do this for the British but that's how it is).

Also, there's stuff happening below (Truscott and Appleby in meaningful fights at feather) and above (loads of good Brits at lightweight, all of whom will start getting together) which maximises the amount of quality contests that can be made.

1 or 2 young fighters will emerge from this to get proper big fights Haye-Mac style, IMO.

My inside source informs me Arthur has not been able to make weight for the original date, nor the projected June the 14th date.

I don't blame Guzman not wanting to wait around any longer.

What will AA do at lightweight? They've already spent the last 12 or so months playing the WBO title game. This won't happen at lightweight with Khan around. Will he be fed to Khan? Cracking fight if he is.

Jeff how is Guzman over rated, 3 weight world champion, undefeated, has fought very good opposition. I rank him in the top ten P4P.

Arthur is injured and wont fight for a few months, Guzman was never going to happen!, There is noway Warren would let Arthur fight Khan he's far to big a hitter, Arthur would KO him with out to much trouble.

3 weight world champion without one top name on his resume. Loads of people on here call him p4p a top 3 fighter.... rubbish he hasn't stopped anyone world class in his entire career. He's good but no where near as good as some people make out. I gave him the edge over Arthur but I think Alex had a decent chance.
