    CAMPBELL VS. GUZMAN OFF!

Sources close to the situation have just informed us that the clash between former super featherweight champion Joan Guzman and WBA, IBF & WBO champion Nate Campbell is officially off. Late last night, Guzman was forced to go to the hospital after suffering from dehydration and coughing up blood.

After coming in 3.5 pounds over the 135-pound limit, Guzman was given two hours to make the weight, but opted not to, instead returning to his hotel room. Hours later, Guzman was taken to the hospital for observation after coughing up blood. Due to the seriousness of the situation, the fight with Campbell has been called off.

    -------------------------------

The man was severely weight drained and coughing up blood. It would be foolish to go through with the fight, regardless of how disappointed us Boxing fans may be.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. It's too bad Joseph Agbeko had to pull out or else they could have easily aired his match. I was more intrigued by Agbeko-Gonzalez than Bradley-Cherry.

    CAMPBELL VS. GUZMAN ON!!!

Sources close to the situation have revealed that after being prescribed 2 asprin and a bowl of chicken soup that Guzman has recovered enough to take part in the fight.

The substance that Guzman had originally coughed up turned out to be tomato sauce from the burger he had eaten, not blood as first feared.

No, of course not. No one is saying that he should still fight when he's so badly off.

But what he SHOULD have done was to be a professional, and lose the goddamn weight. Because we all know that he is capable of making 135 if he put in even moderately diligent training during camp. Or maybe inform someone prior to yesterday that he likely wouldn't be able to cut down enough, so that they could make some kind of arrangement. That's what really made me pissed at Castillo during the Corrales debacles. No one knew that he was going to be way off the weight until the dude stepped onto the scale at the weigh in! Not a peep from him before that.

Here is Frazier's two round demolition of Foster to cheer everyone up. You really should watch it, it works wonders.
