Before the fraudulent guzman fandom gets crushed here at ESB on Sept. 13, lets take some time to analyze how guzman would have fared with the lightweights before he gets booted out of contention. my take is that out of the cream of the lightweight talents, only against the Gatti-like Katsidis and the aging casamayor has guzman a chance of victory. campbell would have cut the ring and make guzman eat combinations while guzman plants his feet to unload his petty punches. marquez would definitely outclass this mayweather wannabe who's only advantage going for him is his reflexes. but hear this, marquez fought close fights against pacman, guzman fought a close fight against barrios. marquez would have a field day punking guzman's ass. Juan diaz unlike soto punches fast and sticks to your chest like a shadow, a bad style match-up for runners--especially runners who aren't really fluid when punching and keeping footwork together like guzman. while he does not have the power to hurt guzman, i think diaz would be able to land enough to win a unanimous decision. pacman, although he fights at 147 and may fight at 140 afterwards, is one of those regarded by many delusional fans to be an easy match-up for guzman. this joke is not funny. on the contrary, pacman would easily beat guzman, a runner who gets tired early, who can't punch hard enough to earn manny's respect and who won't get away from someone who moves as fast as him, and punches a lot harder and faster than him. pacman has a good chance of knocking out this pretender. so guzman would not fare well against the top lightweights. maybe he'd fare better against the lower-tier opponents, namely the This content is protected . Remember that gate-keeper level is also the level guzman excelled in at the superfeatherweight division before he ducked Arthur and moved on to the lightweights. but before he declares himself king of the gate-keepers, lets see him get by the current best in Armando Sta.cruz. In my opinion, sta. cruz, a solid fighter at 135 who beat a crafty casamayor would have a great chance to upset a heavier guzman. his long jab will do the difference in this fight, and while he does not have soto's power, he may do well enough to earn a split decision. :deal :deal :hi: :hi:

I think Guzman is better than many realize. He outclasses Casa, Katsidis, and Santa Cruz for sure. I'd give him a serious chance against anyone at lightweight. Freddie Roach has already stated that he is keeping PAC away from Guzman.
posting long enough in the lounge must have made you forget details of past fights. david diaz was outboxed for the whole duration of the fight. he was lucky he's got power to pull off an unexpected KO or else it would have been a victory for sta. cruz. as for david diaz against guzman, i expect guzman to win a decision after going through a hard gruesome battle. guzman would run first and showboat once in a while. he would try to land some wicked combinations like pac did (obviously trying to outdo him and sway some giddy fans in his favor). unfortunately, he does not have pac's power to keep diaz at bay and diaz successfully gets inside guzman doing some damage. this goes on for some more rounds until guzman realizes he's running out of air fast and needs to work on his bicycles once more to salvage the later rounds. thus he runs and gets the nod of the judges.:yep :yep
he sure has greater power than guzman and for a person who has no power, he definitely knows how to punch considering he has KO'd a lot of superlightweights. :deal
Guzman by KO, Santa Cruz is very very ordinary and very slow. The Casa fight was his once in a lifetime opportunity and he got robbed.
