    Wtf! WOW! Something must be up health wise! So much talent too. All the best, classy fighter & human being.

    Edit: just read it's for 'business reasons'. Fair play if your hearts not in it it's not in it. He could have still achieved in boxing tho regardless of the Beterbiev loss. Wonder if the Stevenson thing is effecting him more than he's ever let on..

    :shakehead: Gonna have to redo my official P4P top 10 most handsome ranking now that the #1 has called it a day.

    But seriously, that's a damn shame he's an excellent fighter and he's still only 33 and could've achieved so much more. I wonder if that scare after being kept in hospital for 2 days after the Beterbiev fight might have something to do with him coming to this decision, especially after he beat Stevenson into a coma?

    A real shame. I remember when he passed through the Fight Factory and was still a prospect. All the trainers thought he had the goods to take over the light heavyweight division. He still has a ton of potential despite his loss against Beterbiev.

    I’m thinking that like a lot of athletes he’s frustrated with the whole coronavirus ordeal putting a virtual hault to his sport. I think it’s highly likely once things get rolling again that he’ll reconsider.

    He's not the type to say something like this unless he really means it. I doubt we'll ever see him back again. Such a nice guy too :shakehead:

    I can half understand it, he wasnt blown out by Beterbiev, it was a fight which he would've felt he couldn't win after a round or two imo and it went on a while. Excellent fighter and maybe he thought what's the point if Beterbiev is there, I've heard it before, " if you can't beat the champ what's the point".. from a fan point it's the wrong decision but thinking about it, he's accomplished a lot, made money and it is a business after all, so a shock initially but it's probably the best for him

    Yeah I really don't think he would say it unless he meant it. I hope I'm wrong but I suspect not

    Let's not forget that in addition to becoming the WBC LHW champ and facing two of the top 5 most savage punchers in the game in the space of three fights he was robbed blind in the Olympic semi-final and should've at the very least gone home with a silver medal

    He beat Adonis into a coma and almost killed him albeit obviously unintentionally

    Spent two nights in hospital after taking a lot of sickeningly heavy bombs from arguably the hardest puncher in the game

    His stablemate Dadashev (RIP) tragically died after suffering a subdural hematoma

    Honestly, if I was a professional boxer and had three young beautiful kids and had been through something like that it would make me think long and hard about my future just for their sake
