    How is that useful?

Plenty of fighters who are the same size, same speed, why risk it with a heavy hitter?

It might be useful, if you have an over the top cocky Green prospect, who doesn't want to focus on defense because "he thinks" he can walk through punches. A good punch from Price might be the only medicine, but vs world class boxers, its bad idea to risk getting brain damage for nothing

So what happens when you are sparring in preperation to fight a puncher like Kovalev?

    Do you spar with Mayweather?

Price was the best spar he could get. He beat a 'boxer' in Fury in the amateurs, so it wasn't a stupid choice at all.

Coming out of a jail cell and going straight into a sparring session with Price, that was the stupid choice.

Name me 10 British heavyweights who have wins/KO's over two unified world champions in the amateurs/sparring?

    Thought not. (LOL)

What? Sparring? And does winning a three-round decision over Tyson Fury when he's 17 in a juniors tournament rate higher than winning an Olympic Gold Medal?

Get your head out of your butt.

Just in the last 18 years, Anthony Joshua, Audley Harrison and Joe Joyce had a better amateur careers than David Price. They all won ABA titles and surpassed him in the Olympics. Of the five British boxers who represented the heavyweight/super heavyweight class this century, Price comes in fourth in terms of amateur success. Only Lawrence Okolie did worse than Price. And Okolie is a cruiserweight.

At this point, there's a good bet Harrison might end up with a better amateur AND pro record than Price does.

They'll have to start matching Price with opponents who have NO wins to get to Audley's 31 wins.

    Price is toast.

AJ admits he was flattened in sparring by Price, Donkeypotamus won't admit Wlad did the same to him though. That's because AJ is a man of truth.

These rumours are actually quite old and the Joshua one was confirmed by himself last year I think.

While it's not good to get dropped ever in boxing, it was sparring. Look at where Joshua is now compared to Price with all respect.

    So I can't what?

You said David Price had one of the best amateur records in UK heavyweight history. He doesn't even have the first, second or third best amateur record of heavyweights this century and it's only 2018.

And now you want me to name British heavyweights who won sparring matches with guys who would later become champs? WTF are you talking about?

    Price sucks.

    Get over it.

Whatever he had, he isn't that anymore. He's a bust. He's been reduced to fighting six rounders against guys with four wins and a dozen losses, and he can't even stop them.

The over/under for the Povetkin fight shouldn't be measured by rounds, it should be seconds. Like "Can Price last 120 seconds ... place your bets."

Whatever cheesy Sky Sports promo hyping Price years ago got you all excited about him is totally irrelevant now.

    He's done.

I know that plumber Price did a job on the bodybuilder. Some close sources from uncle Frank said that Joshua's long lost brother Daniel Dubious had him down for the count too. Just wait till the bronze bomber gets his hands on him. Eddie can't cover up these sparring beatings for too long lol....

it puts the focus on your defense. if u slip up an make a mistake this guy will clock you out. puts u on high alert . an it was reported price knocked him down so it looks like aj learned something from the sparring session an if u can take something away from it then it was a success. if price really did knock down aj then the sparring session was much needed.

AJ an amateur who at the time was a drug dealer (so not totally focused on boxing) getting kd by a 8 fight (winning) pro boxer preparing for his first 10 round fight, is the kd that much of a surprise?

Spar someone with Kovalev skill level, speed and size, but less punching power

It does have a psychological purpose, especially if the boxer is cocky or very young and refuses to focus on defense. IMO sparring a heavy hitter is not a good idea for older boxers

I believe that Wilder neither confirmed or denied that he was knocked down when he was asked about it. He had said something along the lines that it was a learning experience and that he became much better since that sparring.

I know for a fact that Vlad knocked Wilder down with a left jab and flattened him with a left hook, he battered Wilder from one side of the ring to the other! There are witnesses................ask David..............
