Dario Bredicean vs. Guillero Romero, 8 rounds @ super middleweight

 

Romero staggered in the fifth a couple of times (even doing a few Amir Khan gas-station-inflatable-waving-tube-man wobble-dances) and yet Bredicean, a fit southpaw with good enough technique landing with high accuracy, lacks the pop and/or finishing instinct to put him away.

 

Man, this kid Dario seriously can not crack an egg. I think even the middle-aged ref could probably render his opponent unconscious right now with a light cuffing smack upside the head.

 

Romero is completely gassed, too, and his nose is bloody, entire face red, mouth breathing, just flopping all over the places and collapsing into the ropes or tumbling forward into clinches every time Bredicean slaps him with a right hook, but the kid just can't get rid of him. This is extremely frustrating to watch (and probably quite bad for Romero's health). At this point the corner should just step in and mercifully pull the plug.

 

I guess they demoted it to a 6-rounder (or stopped it on cuts); over now.

 

...and he's stepping up in class a tiny bit with Pantera Gurrola, who is a serviceable journeyman with a few upsets on his ledger (although mostly down at his natural weight of 140lbs, three division south)
