I am moving to London and was hoping someone could recommend a good boxing gym to join. I am an amateur and want to train to fight over there, so am looking for somewhere with good quality sparring.

I will move to wherever the gym is, it just has to be within an hour of the centre of London.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

    Cheers.

Peacock is probably the best gym for boxing in London that isnt doing all the boxercise stuff. Its in Vauxhall.

What weight are you? If you go the Real Fight Club in Liverpool Street can get good sparring including Choi and Tony Salam.

Don't train in Samuel Montague in kidbroke.... there are too many ****ing morons in charge of that place. You would be better off trining yourself, assuming you're near that area of course. Also steer clear of Saint Peters a few miles down the road.

I remember being keen on Hollington in Camberwell though. but go to Peacocks if you're in east London.

Reptons in Bethnal Green, East End. Peacocks as the others have mentioned is probably the best one.

Repton & West Ham Boys will give you all the sparring you want,Both are excellent amateurs gyms in the East End.

Lion or Crown & Manor are okay Gyms in Hoxton Areas (Amateur Gyms)

Dale Youth were a great amateur club in the mid 90's & Probably still are (Shepherd's Bush Area)

If Distance was not an Object then head over to the Repton or West ham.

    Repton should be your priority.

I'm gonna be down in London for a few months myself, in Borough. I've seen a gym called Rooneys near London Bridge. Anyone know what it's like?

I wont be fighting while I'm down there, but wouldnt mind getting my weight down and a bit of sparring so that I can get back into it when I come back home...

The Borough-Bermondsey area is jam packed full of boxing Gyms. Never been to Rooneys and I'm not sure if Gleasons or PUG reopend but you have a good selection. I hear the Lynn by Burgess Park has improved recently that may be worth a look.

You have to be more specific, people outside of london don't seem to realize just how big the city is. There must be hundreds of Gyms!
