Mosley vs Whitaker @ 135 the best two lws of the last 20 years? Power-Whitaker wasn't quite feather-fisted at 135 but power was Mosley's greatest asset at lw and in this fight.Definitey in the top 2 hardest-hitting Lws of all time,up there with Duran Speed-Tough,both extremely quick but in different ways.Kinda like Mayweather and Pac in the sense that Whitaker is quicker than mosley in a one-shot sense while Mosley is quicker whilst throwing combinations,so i call it a draw Chin-Whitaker's was extremely solid but Mosley's is on a different level,one of the best chins in boxing Defense-No arguement,u know who Weight advantage-In their primes i feel Mosley would have maybe a little problem making weight comfortably but still no real weight advantage to be had OUTCOME-Mosley would almost certainly come flying from the trenches,throwing all but the kitchen sink at whitaker for the first 3 or 4 rounds,looking for a brawl instead of a boxing match which as time would tell he couldn't avoid.Whitaker's excellent defense would see him through with minimal damage and he would begin to control the fight around the 5th or 6th,sweeping rounds 6-10 leading mosley to attempting a last-ditch effort that almost works earning him the final two rounds,But Whitaker does enough to earn a close,entertaining and fierce UD by a round or so Feel free to disagree
As far as the weight goes Mosley can make the 135 limit but the weight he comes in afterwards can be really really high. I'd have to agree with you as far as you're outcome goes. I don't have any faith in Jack Mosley to help Shane through this one when the going gets tough. The thing that would worry me about Whitaker chances of winning this are Shane's combinations, I've not seen anything as quick in my life, but I'd have to side Whitaker UD. I'd add to this Shane's greatest win. The first de la Hoya fight, Oscar came into this trying to prove his warrior spirit after the happenings of the Trinidad fight but when he jabbed away Mosley wasn't too sure what to do. I don't want to say who has the better jab out of Whitaker and Oscar because they are two of the best jabs I have ever seen but Whitaker wouldn't fall into some sort of war and for me that's the difference, his jab will trouble Shane all night long.
