    Interesting......Good to know.....

Holmes described Johnson as possibly the toughest of all time for him.....

Actually he said : "The only guy I'd have had trouble with was Jack Johnson,"

This has actually ran through my mind a few times. Holmes was pretty damn slick.

The interesting thing about Liston is that he holds the same stylistic advantages over the swarmers Foreman does, but on the otherhand is far more skilled, has a better jab and better conditioning to deal with the outfighter types.

Can you imagine the awkwardness for Holmes having to punch downward at a guy who has a longer reach than his own with a jab of nearly equal quality? Not to mention loaded KO power in both fists. Liston was a unique beast.

    Definitely a beast H2H....

Liston´s jab was really good, no doubt.......but in my opinion the better jab is the Holmes one......I don´t see Liston at the same level when outboxing opponents......Holmes had the better jab and better footwork, these attributes give him the edge IMO.....

  7. I suspect Ali, Lewis and Vitali would make up the top 3 although not sure what the order would be.

Vitali is not a great h2h force.

I don't think anyone would have an easy night with him and perhaps noone would beat him ten out of ten, but it has to be remembered that he failed to go the distance with the best two men he faced.

What if it was targeted a few inches south and knocked him clean out, what then?

I had it 5-4 to vitali at the time he quit against byrd and judging the shape of the fight, chris was gonna sweep the final rounds. The biggest controversy about that fight isn't the shoulder but it's the terrible scoring.

Come on man, you're a better poster than this "what if" bull****.

Liston did quit against ali (the same injury which forced vitali to quit against byrd btw). The difference is, with liston, his legacy was secure by then. Vitali has never climbed above his brother for a significant timeframe and is actually willing to sit in his shadow.

I don't really get the Liston thing. I think I'm starting to though.
