I didn't even see you quoted me 2 years ago and I didn't comment on this topic either. My top 4 ? In no order. Muhammad Ali Lennox Lewis Larry Holmes Mike Tyson
Muhammad Ali Larry Holmes Oleksandr Usyk Mike Tyson 3 of them have a great combination of size, chin, stamina, ring IQ, adaptability, technical ability and consistency that I think would give them the highest chance of progressing to the end of a fictional heavyweight tournament. Tyson on the other hand is so fast, hits so hard, is so ridiculously aggressive and also has an ATG chin. Even though he's one dimensional I struggle to see him to losing to most people on the list besides the ones above him. I honestly think there's a good chance that Mike that loses to Douglas beats Wlad or Lewis that night, as Douglas took some bombs and punishment that I don't think they'd be able to withstand. I'd probably put either Foreman 5th and Lewis 6th but they have more issues in concerned with. Ali, Holmes and Usyk are all extremely mobile and have great chins, which makes me very confident in their chances against ATG boxer punchers / skilled punchers. Mike isn't as mobile but has very fast feet, better head movement and an ATG chin. Joe has much worse footwork and has a good chin but not a great one. So I'm not confident he can survive the big ATG punchers, and we already know he struggled with boxers and movement so there's very few of these people he can beat H2H imo. I'd favour him over Frazier and Bowe but no one else. George doesn't have P4P skills imo. He has a very good chance of beating anyone smaller than him but almost no chance of beating the larger heavyweights that came after. He relied on his superior physical strength and reach to manoeuvre people into unfavourable positions, which wouldn't work against Wlad or Lewis. So then you have a man who's entire fighting style that was based upon him being the larger man, step into the ring as the smaller man, who has very slow feet and non-existent head movement? Nah, he's getting pieced tf up. Past prime Ali smacked the **** out of him, so he'd lose to him, Usyk and Holmes imo. Most people favour George over Mike but I don't. People extrapolate his performance over a past prime Joe and think he'd do the same thing to Mike. Mike is stronger, faster, hits much harder, has a much better chin, much better reflexes, better defensively etc. Just a higher level of fighter. George shoving Mike back would be a stylistic problem yes, but George foreman having no head movement against Mike would be a stylistic problem in of itself. Don't like Lewis's chin. Don't like Wlad's chin + over reliance on the clinch as a referee could completely negate his primary defense if they wanted to. Don't like Holyfields inconsistency and variable ring IQ. Was never a dominant heavyweight anyway. Frazier loses to every ATG puncher he fights imo on account of his small stature, come forward style and not ATG chin. Frankly know very little about Liston.
