Painterly Joe jabs him silly and knocks him out down the stretch. Shame this matchup won't be happening. Joyce deserves a chance to really make his name against a box office attraction (which Whyte is, thanks to Hearn's hypnotic control of the casual market) more than Dillian deserves a shot at a world title.
Whyte's more proven at a higher level but the style match up doesn't favour Whyte. Whyte doesn't have great footwork, he can be walked down as Chisora proved and backed up to the ropes as his lateral movement is next to non existent. Joyce would have no problem backing him up with the jab. Whyte relies on his jab a lot and Joyce can match him for his jab, in fact I think Joyce's jab is better than Whyte's. Whyte's conditioning isn't always the best he often shows up overweight and while he's gotten away with it for the most part, Joyce would definitely expose that with his work rate should Whyte show up less than 100% in shape. Joyce's chin is at the worst very good if not granite. Whyte does have that dangerous left hook counter but he lands it sparingly, it may take more than the one big shot to put Joyce away, so I have doubts he can stop Joyce without a sustained assault. Joyce probably grinds him down stops him late.
Joyce would break Whyte down eventually. Too sturdy, heavy handed and unrelenting and Whyte just does not have enough power/durability/mobility/cardio/all of the above to deal with it.
Joyce but he needs to get a move on and start making these big fights instead of sitting around waiting to fight Usyk. He isn't going to get a shot until at least 2023.
Hopefully the Ortiz fight is made. Both called each other out and said they want it, hopefully there's some meaningful negotiations going on, but the chance of Ortiz facing anyone with a pulse is slim, though both are signed with Haymon so maybe it can happen.
For years I've been hearing how Takam suddenly became a top 10 opponent on the eve of the Joshua bout, despite beating nobody in his whole career.
I never considered him top 10 personally. Takam is not an impressive Joshua win, and I never reference it to make Joshua look good. Takam was beaten by Chisora ffs, how can he be top 10? lol
Joyce is a better boxer, a better athlete and tougher all round Dililan's best chance is his sheer determination and heart seeing him through
Joyce, but with one question that this fight would answer: Does he have a variability to body punches, and if so, could Whyte's left to the body expose it? Otherwise, the juggernaut will relentlessly chop down that tree...
That's actually a good point, the one time Joyce looked vulnerable was when Jennings hurt him to the body and if anyone's going to test his body it's the so called Body snatcher.
