    I'd have liked to see him against a greater array of styles at mw.

    His lhw run is solid and spectacular imo. He missed out on dm, meh. Clearly top guy for a number of years.

    Is 1 great victory enough though?

    How do you see mw jones against hagler and robinson?

    Pep got bullied by Saddler, going up to LW he couldn't make an impact on Angott, he was a notoriously a lazy trainer. All these things I see letting him down in some H2H matches

    Armstrong at FW is a fair shot but at the weight, he's as much a leap of faith as Jones who has the better MW wins. Pedroza deserves a mention too.

    Jones at 160 was essentially the Jones who dominated Toney in his next fight after leaving the weight. So he was considered prime 1 fight after losing 160, it's fair to say he's near his absolute best at the weight. His power, speed and defensive reactions at 160 are unrivalled


    Saddler while a physical beast isn't particularly skilled or quick and always gives up his height. I see many outboxing him, Sanchez and Marquez

    I'd pick Gamboa over Sadler too

    With a gun to my head, I actually think pre-retirement robinson is the greatest h2h mw out there.

    Past prime he also picked up great victories.

    Yeah sugar ray might well be my man. The version who stopped la motta is a man I wouldn't pick against.

    All my guys seem to be people born with god given athletic abilities. I think that sort of natural talent is required to set someone above the rest.

    Is there a similar sort of guy in the bw division?

    Post planecrash he wasn't as good.

    The loss to angott is troubling.

    At fw armstrong beat covelli, milling, wolgast, leyvas, arizmendi, zurita, belloise, casanova and sarron. I think he's actually quite proven at fw.

    Gamboa is a good shout as is marquez.

    I'm sold on jones actually now. I just don't think he's as good as robinson.

    I know people say he wasn't as good post plaincrash but I half wonder if that's just an excuse, he was young when he beat and lost to Saddler. Fair point though

    I think Armstrong like Jones did his best weight above what may have been both men's optimal weight. Jones has wins over future champs in Hopkins and Castro, an ex-champ in Vaca, while Tate, Thomas and Wolfe were decent contenders

    On head for head FWs I rate Joan Guzman and we could be watching 2 of the best in history in Gary Russell Jr. Let's hope Rigondeaux, Donaire and Russell all fight each other but they'll probably be spoilt by politics

    Generally though, I have some sympathy with your view on Pep, even the I rank him #1 ATG on my list. I have some of the same concerns. I rank Saddler considerably higher than you do though.
