I like Calzaghe, and give him his due as a great fighter, but Toney in his prime was something sepcial.

Calzaghe is not on the level of a prime Roy Jones

Amen to that. This forum is remarkably sane today. I was expecting this poll to end up a landslide to the Calzaghe worshippers. Well done ESB! :good

so if you pick calzaghe you are a calzaghe worshipper ?

  8. Toney was whipped by scrubs, Dave Tiberi, Montell Griffin 2x, Drake Thadizi, and was dropped and given a beatdown and lost a lopsided decision to Roy "i left my chin in the locker room" Jones, Toney was over-rated, too lazy to even train.. he wouldn't even be able to hurt JC, and would be out worked an sent back to his home at Burger King..

    I'm from Scotland.

My top 5 ever boxers are Duran (Panama), Arguello (Nicaragua), Pryor (USA), Jones Jr (USA) and Pacquiao (Philippines).

Some of us appreciate boxers, and are above basing decisions on nationalities or petty rivalry.

I think Toney was more gifted, and would win by late stoppage. It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with nationality or anything else.

No, of course not. But anyone suggesting Calzaghe was on the same level as a peak Roy Jones Jr is a Calzaghe worshipper, as that is laughable.

Did you even bother to read the start of this thread??

You quite clearly implied it when you said Calzaghe could do what Jones did to that Toney. How could he achieve the same thing in the same way if he was not even on the same level? Don't wriggle out of it now mate, you said it, at least have the courage of your convictions.

i believe what i said was i reckon calzaghe would frustrate toney in much the same way jones did. i'm not implying joe would beat jones or that he's as good . i just reckon he would of done a number on james toney.
