Haye would pull out of the tournament.

Yes, as long as killers such as Bellew and Thompson don't enter the tournament, he should beat them all.

Yeah true but he still unified it. Then moved up, you can only face whats in front of you.

To say he would be "schooled and KTFO" when he never was schooled (beaten soundly by Wlad but not schooled) or KTFO is a classic ESB clouded-by-hate judgement.

He was slick, fast and powerful and his overall resume is pretty good.

Haye seems to be too vulnerable and incosistent to win a tournament like that, with a lineup this tough, much tougher as cruiser was when he was around, and still he got dropped and hurt by a couple of them. I remember Haye's "copyright strike" campaign at youtube at the time when he was starting his campaign at heavyweight, removing all videos in which he got dropped and hurt from youtube, even if he actually didn't hold the rights to most of those fights at all.
He can beat all of them, but can also lose to all of them, and I wouldn't favor him in such a tournament setup.

It's the best it's ever been, IMHO. So deep!

Sorry, we know this how? How many HOF CWs has Haye beaten? What in your opinion makes Haye competitive vs. Briedis or Usyk. Or even a prime Huck?

Haye's best wins is vs. Mormeck who wouldn't be holding multiple belts today and a glass-jawed Macca who wouldn't last 2 rounds vs. Briedis or Usyk. He lost vs. an ancient Thompson, got wobbled vs. Mock and was taken into deep waters vs. a nobody like Fragomeni.

So what exactly about Haye's paper-thin CW record is ATG worthy?

Macca hits harder than Briedis, you can bank on that.

1st part, yes. 2nd part, no. 3rd part, yes. Any man with reasonably good fundamentals that also happens to be as quick and powerful as Haye was can turn a fight with a single punch and beat anybody, so you're right there. But I think there are a few in the bracket where you have to make a prime Haye a very significant favourite. Huck and Wlodarczyk are shot to bits and would both get mullered in a similar fashion to their QF losses, Huck a drawn out beating and Wlod an early KO. Kudryashov has a terrible chin and an even worse defense and gets sparked early by the more skilled, quicker fighter just like he did against Dorticos. Dorticos would be a good fight but I'd slightly favour Haye on athleticism alone, as I would against Perez. I'd back Gassiev, Briedis and Usyk to beat him though. Of those three I think his best chance of an upset would be against Gassiev if he can maintain a focused back foot performance for 12 rounds.

His body's perennial ability to break down however would likely see him pull out before the semi final.

I'd argue that he was schooled by Wlad, I thought that he was negative throughout and outboxed by the much better fighter and athlete in Wlad. I had Wlad winning 9-3.

But I agree with you that Haye is a quality fighter and it wasn't his fault at the state of the cruiserweight division at the time.

So does David Price, yet a glass chin is a glass chin. Haye's win over Macca is nothing to brag about. Macca has been beaten in brutal and embarrassing fashion by so many mediocre fighters I won't bore with listing all of them.

    True.
Just think about this for a minute... Put Usyk, Gassiev, Lebedev, Dorticos, Glowacki, Huck and Perez in Haye's place to fighting late 2007 to early 2008 Mac and Mormeck. I myself favor all of them, and brutally over Enzo "on his back" Mac.

theres no way you can make that claim unless you have an agenda, its simply ludicrous to suggest anyone would school Haye at that weight, bar maybe Holyfield. back your man to beat him, sure, but no way does he get "schooled the **** out of"

Haye is slightly overrated at CW. Fast & explosive sure but I saw him hurt & lose rounds many a time. His resume is poor too.. Mac? Mormeck? Come on... He'd be fighting prime EE beasts here not French & Italian deli workers! He always has the equalizer but he's a beatable fighter. Usyk is better. He just is.
