Oh is that so? And how can we be so sure of that? Haye got rocked multiple times by tiny Italian Fragomeni who is much worse than prime Huck.
Many think Haye was like second coming of Evander Holyfield. Which is simply not true. Holyfield was head and shoulders above Haye in terms of skills. Haye was extremely gifted athlete, but his skills were very poor compared to Holy both at HW or CW. That was shown when Haye slowed down and got beaten by Bellew at 36 (Haye looked like **** even before an injury in rd6). Haye lost his speed and looked average against an average opponent. At 37 Holyfield gave prime 245 lbs Lennox tough fight. Haye, 10 fights, 24 y.o. gets knocked out by 40 y.o. shot Carl Thompson. Holy, 11 fights, 22 y.o., beats 33 y.o. past prime, but still world class HOFer Dwight Qawi. Haye was dropped by Lolenga Mock, Mormeck and Thompson at CW Holyfield never was knocked down at CW Haye was very gifted, but his skills weren't on par with his physical gifts (power, speed), and his chin was far from granite. That means he was beatable
I think Haye would've had a chance at winning this tournament. But I wouldn't hold him as the favorite. He has the power to knock anyone out, but could also loose against almost anybody in the tournament. This division is stacked, as Breidis vs Usyk showed. But at the end of the day, Haye could never finish the required three fights within a year without injury himself.
Haye would demolish the Usyk and Breidis who fought last weekend. Both guys were so easy to hit it was like rock em sock em robots. Zero head movement on display by either man and Usyk's best and most used weapon, his jab, would have been totally nullified by Haye's foot and head movement. Then there's also Haye's equaliser, his power. I can't stand the guy, but he'd have demolished these two guys, probably in the same night.
Yo You do realise Haye came in with a dodgy achilles and was moving very weirdly for the 6 rounds before it snapped, I guarantee you that if Haye is healthy and fit he will smash Bellew without any massive issues.
Haye can't be ignored his combination of speed, power and reflexes separates him from the other guys in this tournament. As hard as Briedis hits, Haye hit's a whole lot harder, he's also quicker than Usyk, Briedis, Dorticos or Gassiev and more elusive too. He proved himself to some extent at heavyweight unlike anyone on this list. Only Briedis fought at heavy beating Charr who is a C level heavyweight that Haye would KO quickly. All 4 guys are not difficult to hit. Haye would KO Briedis and Gassiev as a counter puncher he'd use their aggression against them. Dorticos would last longer but still likely get stopped. Usyk if he decides to box and move poses the biggest threat, Haye likes guys to come to him. But overall I favour Haye, too much speed, too much power. Best jab of the lot of them, the best defensive fighter out of them too. He just has too many advantages.
Haye is one of the best boxers who has ever lived. Haye would beat every boxer, if he wouldn't have any injuries! He would have beaten Fury twice, if he had not injured himself twice. He would have beaten Wladimir, if he had not broke his toe. He would have beaten Charr and Vitali, both he couldn't fight because he was injured. Furthermore, he would have beaten Tony Bellew, if he had not hurt his leg! I am also pretty sure that he would beat Joshua in a future mach up, after he would beat Tony Bellew in the rematch!
David's frame has been pretty much too big for CW since he moved up. H2H, his CW resume is even with YD. Breidis, Usyk and Gassiev have better CVs at the weight. That said, he'd have been the most exciting. The most explosive. The most powerful. But.......... He'd also have the weakest chin. The easiest to out work, the largest gap in fundamentals, and the poorest stamina. I could see him winning by ko over any except Gassiev, but possibly being shut out by Usyk, our worked or stopped by Breidis or Dorticos and steamrolled by Gassiev.
pathetic troll attempt. This guy maintains he's <Szpilka and would ko him in a couple rds. Good username, but one of esbs biggest haters. Haye DID unify CW titles. Haye DID outpoint the #4 HW to win his paper title, but he did/continues to make/win solid fights. He has been plagued by injury, but has adjusted in his comebacks using different styles in return. Top 5 HW in a very good era, best CW in a solid era, and still a lock top 15 HW in a solid era. A fluke loss, a couple nagging injuries and a **** poor excuse for a poor execution in his biggest fight. Love him or hate him, but he's always been a great fighter.
Haye fought in spurts, his conditioning was never great, his boxing IQ was never supreme, he was just very athletic and powerful. Uysk would have worked him out and over.
David "Would have" Haye. They should put Haye's photo in every dictionary next to the word "hypothetically". Because in the real world things looked much different in his very mixed career.
