Who does Jack have the best chance of beating?

Jack had lost a lot by this point, as Levinsky made clear, but he still had power if anything.

None. He wouldn't be able get his stamina back. He was alright on exhibition with fighters who would get knocked out or dive early. But any good boxer would extend him and he would lose. They might even stop him early.

As the above poster says, Dempsey would have been beaten if he came back.
Would have been a painful ending for him, maybe getting stopped by Baer or Sharkey in a rematch.

Would have been grim. Old fighters lose their speed, and a lot of what made Dempsey great is that he combined speed and technique to generate TNT power. Take away his best asset (imho) and every fight becomes a slog for him.

To Carnera’s credit he had the heart of a lion, if neither Louis nor Baer could keep him on his ass I doubt Dempsey would be able to. Whatever old man Dempsey does to him early I could see him overcoming like he was close to doing to Max Baer in the latter rounds leading up to the 11th.

I make Carnera the favorite at this point. Dempsey has really lost a lot I cant really put him as a favorite over any top 5 guy of the era.
