Had Marciano killed Walcott?

I don't think Marciano would go up or down in the general consensus rankings.

Walcott would probably be rated higher though.

 

Marciano would have lost his next five fights and been remebered as sombody who might have been good if the Walcott tragedy had not taken place.

 

Maybe by the casual fan, but not the hardcore. He shows nothing else in his remaining fights to change this view

 

It would make his racist fans say he is the hardest puncher in boxing history. But sane fans will realize Walcott was knocked out earlier in various other fights and that this knock out proved nothing. Almost losing to a washed up Walcott and getting lucky and catching him proves nothing

 

racist fans would be saying the mob helped him win or that Walcott was washed up...Yet if Hopkins or Glen Johnson fights well he is a master but Walcott was washed up at 37...
anyway how could that short little Italian guy be so tough...the white folks always bring up Marciano...just not fair

Im not being dismissive of this as i know nothing about them, but are those measuring things really accurate as far as fighters punches are concerned? As i said, i know nothing about them but i wouldnt read too much into it personally. Ive nothing to base that on, its just my take:good

Didnt i see Danny Dyer getting a higher score on one of those punch machines things than Evander Holyfield, on Soccer AM?
