Had the Canelo rematch not been locked, does anyone believe GGG would have given up IBF?

For the past 3 months everybody blathered on about the ship having sailed and it will never be made and BLAH BLAH BLAH

Golovkin himself claimed Canelo wasn't a priority anymore. Fishnets insisted they would go look somewhere else.

Then, surprise-surprise, Golovkin gives up the IBF title. But still insists he doesn't need the rematch.

And a few days later, surprise-surprise, it's sealed and delivered without too much details being released.

Was the whole charade a media farce all along?

Does anyone believe for a nanosecond Golovkin would have given up the IBF if it wasn't already agreed the rematch would take place?

Isn't this all a smokescreen to divert attention from the Clenelo fiasco?

Just using my common sense here.

Team G met w/ the IBF, so I believe that if the Clenelo rematch didn't happen, they would have fought SD, BJS would have fought MM, and then GGG and BJS would have met in the winter.
