Came in looking flabby, work rate was poor, couldn't close the show against a fighter that was over matched in skill and slower. The arena was empty, mikey is not a star.
Mikey cant sell, yet according to some people on here Golovkin cant sell, everyone sells more than him. Idiots.
Lmao. The butthurt is real in this one. Lipinets shouldn't have taken this fight. Blame his advisors. I blame them for throwing this guy in with a top 10 pfp fighter.
His not p4p he fought a guy who had 12 fights his doing a poor version of Mayweather at least Mayweather picked guys that had a track record at world level lipinets is a good fighter that had the benefits of being in a poor weight class with no elite talent reason why he picked up a vacant title and his showed that Garcia is just a basic fighter that can't up the gears and a p4p great fighter shouldn't be getting hit that much expect he will be going after Imam if he wins because his trash while Loma and linares fight each other or fight better opponents but all the credit will go to this joke Garcia
When Mikey was with Arum he was on his way to being a star and to the top of the P4P lists. Proper promotion gets you places in this business.
While I agree that he looked slow and got hit a lot, of course he's top 5 p4p. His accomplishments alone merit that distinction. He certainly has done more than GGG, who some people have as p4p number 1 Bias aside, the correct top 5 p4p should be 1. Lomachenko 2. Crawford 3. GGG 4. Mikey Garcia 5. Rungvisai
He should be top 10 in anyone's list, no matter what criteria you give more weight. I wouldn't say he's guaranteed top 5 though. Only issue so far that I have with him is his opposition. Adrien Broner is pretty much the only 'world-level' proven opposition he has beat. And you could even point the finger at Broner, he hasn't faced anything special either in his career. We will see how good he is when he steps up to 147lbs. Mikey's physicality is important to him, losing that will be huge at 147. I have a sneaky feeling that Errol Spence will eat this guy up, provided Errol stays at 147. Same with Thurman and even Horn too. Especially Horn and Spence who have a big physical advantage over Mikey. And his chin will be tested big time at 147, I think he might struggle late on in fights due to the focus on power punching currently at welter. People like Khan, Crawford and Danny Garcia are more reasonable opponents for Mikey. I think he will come up short at 147lbs.
I thought Garica was made Lipinets mando, but besides that no one rated Lipinets highly. Only his loyal fans even gave him a chance to see the final bell, but certainly no one thought Sergey could give Mikey a fight like that. In hindsight how was anyone suppose to know after his struggle to win the belt, that taking a money fight against Garcia wasn't a good idea. I know you certainly didn't have this opinion before the fight happened, because no one here besides a small handful thought Lipinets would even finish the fight nevermind winning 4 rounds with at least 1 other besides those that was close.
I'm not sure it was (all) about the money. Sergey really wanted to fight Mikey. I guess he desired recognition. By beating Garcia he would put his name on "the boxing map".
I know that, I'm a big fan of Lipinets and have been for awhile. I follow him and Twitter, and have known since the fight was announced Sergey was going to give him hell, and wasn't going to give up his title without a fight. He's the type of guy I believe. He means what he says, and says what he means This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Just a few of his tweets about and leading up to the fight, I knew he was gonna give Mikey a hard time.
