I saw him on the undercard of Broner Maidana on Showtime Extreme because I wanted to see if Canelo's brother Ricardo was any good, it was a close fight Salka should have won Farhood thought that too. I also watch Shobox and he fought Alexei Collado and knocked him down and won on points, he's not bad in a Algieri, Herrera kind of way, but he doesn't deserve a title shot.
NO! This fake fight is a disgrace, not even a good sparring session. I will not bother to watch such a fake fight..................Herrera is the champion anyway..............
Apparently even Garcia feels that he lost to Herrera as he needs a shoe in tune up to get his confidence back.
I think most people knew opf him because of his fight with Alvarez's brother, which most people thought had an unfair outcome. I also knew him from the Collado fight as Collado was one of the Irish based Cubans.
No he isn't apparently as of today he's now facing another murderous puncher called....see below from fightnews. Danny Garcia opponent update Update: looks like the WBC has signed off on Rod Salka as Danny Garcias opponent as they are now listing it on their web page. Yesterday Golden Boy Promotions and Showtime announced that WBC/WBA super lightweight champion Danny Swift Garcia was facing Lightning Rod Salka (19-3, 3 KOs) topping a world championship tripleheader on August 9 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. However, on their website today, the WBC announced that Garcia would be facing Gabriel Bracero (23-1, 4 KOs) on August 9. Barcero is rated #13 by the WBC and not rated by the WBA. Salka is not currently rated by either the WBC or WBA. He has been a lightweight most of his career and is currently the WBC FECARBOX lightweight titleholder. The WBC also dispelled rumors that Garcia was facing IBF champion Lamont Peterson on that date. Yesterday Golden Boy and Showtime announced that Peterson (32-2-1, 16 KOs) will be facing Edgar El Chamaco Santana (29-4, 20 KOs) on the same card. So from Salka who's a vicious puncher with 3 KO's to Gabriel Bracero (23-1, 4 KOs). Hmmm well I suppose he did fight Matthysse.
well sure I've heard of him, who hasn't heard of the 77th best lightweight in the world! lol what a joke this fight is...I want nothing more than for Garcia to lose to this guy, and I was a huge Garcia fan
