    Out of the old timers Fitzsimmons, Langford and Ketchel. More recently Jackson, McClellan (though he wasn't exactly a middleweight by fight time). Hard-hitting Lausse, Fernandez and Carter of the 50's and 60's deserve a mention as well. Brutal left hooks that all those men possessed.

    Well outside of the Philly bias Briscoe is regarded as one of the hardest punchers even among those without it. Briscoe (the bias is coming through again) had an iron chin that Valdez was the only one to crack so I might have to place him ahead of Briscoe!
