I guess Golovkin and Hagler have a lot in common besides being "feared" middleweights. They are also 2 of the divisions best bum killers that ever lived. They both waited in a subpar division to fight nobodies and look dominate until welter weights gain weight and move up instead of them challenging themselves and moving up to more challenging divisions. Hagler was losing to what would be considered today as c level fighters and so will GGG. I guess he will lounge around the 160 range until Canelo is 33 so he can have BIG DRAMA SHOW. Hagler only has 3 good names on his resume out of 67 fights and I'm happy that SRL ****ed him out of the opportunity to fight him prime, he didn't deserve it. Gennady doesn't deserve to be **** either. GGG has zero, let me say again 0 names on his resume and he NEVER will.
Sometimes when Hagler ran out of bums he would just fight one that he beat already. I think GGG next fight will be against Rubio again, so he can take a better dive.
Not many people have 3 atgs on there resumes. The other names are usually top 10 fighters. Hagler fought some sturdy opposition. So ggg will fight canelo when he is 40?
That's what it is looking like. He will be waiting because ODLH is protecting Canelo like a true Latino mother would. GGG will be 35 in 2 years Cotto will be retired and the outlook of that division is bleek.
There was no Super Middleweight division back when Hagler was fighting, not to mention the fact that Hagler was a midget and the MW division back then was tough, not like the pansies we see today. The only thing North for Hagler was the legendary LHW great Michael Spinks. GGG is fighting these bums because he wants to. The guy is a joke.
Difference: The welters Hagler fought were at least big Welters (Hearns SRL) and solid at middleweight. Not midgets.
B-buh-buh-but he's a legend! What about Monzon? I'm sure the OP has plenty to say about him too. This is a terribly ill conceived thread.
:yep And back then guys did not rehydrate 10 pounds. Thurman, Maidana, Ortiz and others rehydrate to over 160. Hagler would slaughter them Also, during Haglers reign, the 168lb division didnt really excist. And to jump from 160 to 175 would have been idiodic concidering Hagler had just won the 160lb lineal championship, which had alluded him for a decade. Hagler was no super star and giving up his 160lb belts could have been financial suicide.
