funny you should mention "spin" becuz what u describe as some masterful chess match, everyone else saw as two little boys staring at one another

In other words, it was a piece of ****!

people dont want to watch that crap!

and while you may not like Hamsho, give the dvil his due! He scared the living daylights out of that timid rabbit even worse than Czyz, made him crap in his pants

Your excuses are the worst I've ever seen. "Wilfred Benitez shot at age 25"

how the hell did he get shot? If you say he lost a close one to Hearns 6 mos before what happened in between?

I think we can throw the Wilfred Benitez vs Mustapha Hamsho bout out the
    'proverbial window'.......

    1) First off, that bout was fought at a contracted weight of 158 lbs.
    2) Second, Wilfred was supposed to fight Frank 'The Animal' Fletcher on that date.
    3) Somebody in the Benitez camp, did not want Wilfred to fight Frank Fletcher.
    4) The Benitez camp agreed to fight either Mustapha Hamsho or Curtis Parker at 158 lbs.

It was nothing more than a $$$ 'money fight' for the 'Wunderkind'.

There were no other decent 'National TV' dollar fights available out there at that time in July 1983.

This was a good post. It is hard to say.. I think Hagler was a better fight for Wilfred than Hamsho was. Hamsho took the air out of his sails.

You mean when I posted more? Wilfred against Hagler is a very good fight. It is so hard to say. He hung in there with Hearns, yet then you have the style of Hagler which could be more pressure. Yet Hagler did better against taller guys than shorter if you can believe that. So this fight might favor Wilfred. The middleweight limit is the problem. Let's put it this way. If Hagler comes in 157 and Benitez is near 154.. Very interesting.

152 even. The super trained one that fought Duran. The best and best trained he ever was. They said Duran was the 1 fighter growing up he was afraid of due to Esteban.

Hagler was not a slugger. He was a boxer who could get very frustrated.

Benitez had a much shorter reach than Hagler, I feel it would have been like Hagler`s fight with Duran for this reason, plus Wilfredo may be slower at the higher weight, Hagler was a killer and would have stopped him late on.

Hagler would have landed more than Leonard did, Ray used to miss more punches than Marvin did but out-sped Wilfredo.

Hagler was a killer but Benitez was awesome v Hearns at 154, Wilfredo would have beat Scypion.

Benitez may have actually done better v Hearns and Ray at 160 than against Hagler, Marvin was a better middle than Tommy and Ray.
