All you're doing by bringing up Leonard/Hearns II is reaffirming that Vegas has had some terrible scoring. Bringing it up does nothing to refute claims that Duran/Hagler was scored closer than it should have been.

Not just 'Merican (by the way I feel like sticking my first throught the keyboard when you derisevly, smugly type that word) Newspapers thought the scoring was off base. Of course, the article cited was from the New York Times, one of the world's leading newspapers. The boxing mags. like Ring, KO, etc. also thought the judging was off. All you offered for your 'evidence' was a misquote of Petronelli, assuming he felt Hagler was behind after 12 rounds, when he never said so in the quote. He simply said Duran "took us to school", meaning Duran fought a better fight then they thought and that Marvin couldn't dominate him by pick him apart by counterpunching. He never said he thought Hagler won by only a couple of rounds and/or was behind after 12 rounds. He (or his brother, the co-handler) is directly quoted in the NY times article saying he didn't believe it was as close as the judges had it. Direct quotes outweight your interpretation of a quote any day of the week.

I said that there were plenty of rounds in SRL/Duran I that I felt could have gone either way; Foxy claims that anyone who doesn't give Duran at least 6 rounds against Hagler is a flaming idiot. Point me to any place where I said the reasons for the requests were the same, or compared them in anyway. Once your equivocal answer is no, I'll accept your concession on the matter. Anyways, I could care less what reasons you asked him to post his card, you simply asked him to post his card for whatever reason. And for the record, I never asked to see his card-- I have no interest in seeing it whatsoever. I asked him which rounds he believes any reasonable person who understands boxing would have to give to Duran.

 

I would probably have to rewatch the fight to give you my full card (I don't have a detailed complete round by round in my notes). I'll be more than glad to do it sometime but I don't get why you're so fixated on this. It was a very, very close fight and some people thought Leonard pulled it off.

Edit: Fwiw, from my old notes I saw that I had Duran up 3-2 and then Leonard catching up to him with the fight even through 8. I thought that rounds 9 through 14 were even and that Leonard won the 15th. A handful of those rounds were tough to score and could have gone either way, depending on your criteria and your perception of how cleanly particular punches landed.

I posted a fight report from the respected Boxing News, you come back with a poxy newspaper. Either post a report from a similarly respected boxing journal saying it should have been a wide UD for Hagler, or stop whining.

I quoted Pat Petronelli who said " Duran took us to school " your interpretation of that statement is as important to me as dog sh it.

People then came back with selective quotes from Goody Petronelli, who also said " If Marvin had put more pressure on in the first 10 rounds, it wouldn't have gone 15 "

Interpret that how you like ( not that I give a sh it ) but I'm saying those aren't the words of a man who thinks his boy is coasting the fight.
