Putting a mythical matchup between them both to the side for a minute, some misguided individuals are putting Golovkin on the same pedestal as Hagler, including trainer Abel Sanchez, regarding greatness in the middleweight division. But consider this, the quality of Hagler's opposition even before he became middleweight champion is stronger than Golovkin's as it stands right now. Anybody out there who questions such an observation needs to have a peek at Hagler's record pre Sept. 1980.

Go on, have a look. If you're not too well educated on Hagler's opponents before he became middleweight champion, I'm sure a few knowledgable historians on here will only be happy to help you out..

    Lets calm ourselves down now.

Hagler is the greatest MW that has ever graced this earth.

    People say its Monzon.

Monzon would fall to the Marvelous one.

gstring is a hyped hbo taxi driver with a pedestrian resume. He was exposed as a defenseless fighter with a good right hand. the clock is ticking and there is a green light on his azz.

Golovkin is a really good fighter with a great old school style of fighting.
But he's not in Hagler's class.

Ggg never loses to the guys who got hagler.

    Ggg splits Leonard in half.

Would have been an amazing dogfight for 5 rounds still ggg breaks haglers chin.

Hagler's resume chits all over Golovkin's. Though to be fair to Golovkin all the good names he could of fought ducked him, at least in Hagler's era the top contenders had the balls to actually face him.

Golovkin for all his dominance and aura of supposed invincibility simple doesn't yet have the names on his resume to compare to the true greats like Hagler, Monzon, Robinson, Hopkins and Greb.

Hello there fellow. He ducked 50yr bhop atg, froch hof, good tough fighters like lara, ward, degale, and the entire middleweight division top 5.

this guy is a hype machine he wants nothing but lesser opposision. His ducks and his resume says this out loud.
He is what his resume says he is a hyperbole taxicab driver

When GG retires, then we can talk. Comparing them now and having just one poster say that he beats Hagler is enough to make me throw the **** up or shoot somebody! Lol
