A night I will never forget ... My Father t and I went to see it,live in Vegas. I am from MA. big Hagler fans but we realy enjoyed watching Hearns fight as well. I remember thinking at the time, I was surprised at how many people out there thought,Hearns would be the first to get to Hagler via stoppage. The shocking KO of Duran was still very fresh in people`s minds. I think Hagler stops Hearns each and every time they fight... Why ? Hearns chin and his susceptibility to hard body shots and inside ring warfare. That coupled with Hagler`s GRANITE chin, doesn`t bode well for Hearns chances. Now I can say first hand, that Hearns DID land his almost nuclear right hand on Hagler`s mug... Hagler banged is hands together and stpped right into the Hearns buzzsaw and forced a confrontation that Hearns could not last through. We stood the whole time,I bumped my Dad`s hat off during the wild first rd. We panicked when it looked they might try and steal it (Veags style ) with Steele taking Hagler to the Doc to check the cut. It only served to fire up Hagler even more. He then bludgeoned him without mercy (quickly) so there would be zero chance for Hearns to get it... Without a doubt, the best boxing event I have ever seen !

One more thing. we got a chance to see Emanuel Steward doing pads with Hearns. And the force, power and incredible snap on Hearns right hand, incredible !!!

Yes.The second Leonard fight.Amazing the styles these guys had, which is why they're called the FAB 4.Leonard and Hearns pretty much even until Hearns wilts,Duran tests Hagler,Hearns destroys Duran,Hagler tkos Hearns,Leonard beats Hagler and Hearns beats Leonard, even though it was a draw.Even Leonard admitted the loss. Styles make fights.

30 years. wow that's almost as long as SSfan spent behind bars

probably the most anticipated fight ever becuz of the ominous threat of the Hitman moving up and rendering Hagler unconscious placed in the minds of those who watched the Duran fights

I can def see why the many thought Hagler's reign was in jeopardy. so many felt he was overrated to begin with and from the many fan letters belittling him and his division, so many of them felt Hagler had no chance to complete with someone so young, so fast, so hard hitting, so much dimensionally & physicaly superior. so frighteningly near his peak. What would poor Hagler do?

while it was a great fight in the beginning, and a great finish, Hagler was too versatile for the re-born hitman and a definite cut above

When the two fighters were on tour promoting the fight, Hearns put his hand on Hagler's head....and called Hagler a midget.

    That really b!ssed Hagler off.
