For as short as this one was (just under 3 rounds) between these two greats,it was one of the best ever. No boxing was involved but just a streetfight. In reality the fight was not suppose to go this way. Should have been several rounds later. Anyway we've heard all the what ifs. The Hearns broken right, and his shaky legs etc. But WHAT if Hearns did land that early right hand ,that shook Hagler, on his chin rather than on the top of Haglers head where he arguably broke it.. Could Hagler have gone down? Or been more badly hurt? It was a wicked shot. So sad a rematch never happened:patsch

Arguably the biggest war ever in a high profile bout.

The number of what-if-scenarios in such a match, however short (3 rounds), are impossible to calculate.

Yeah, the bombs the Hitman through were enormous, and if he connected better who knows?

Rd 1 of MMH v TH was probably the best single rd Ive ever seen.

There are too many to name a 2nd best but 2 stick in my mind.... Gatti v Ward rd 9 (1st fight) & Morales v Barrera rd 5 (1st fight)

Absolutely. What Hearns needed that night was a cricket bat!
