hum... I would tend to favor Hearns but...It's to easy to say... Hagler might have catch him later anyway... Sure would have been more competitive.
Same result. Tommy had to fight like he did to keep Hagler off of him. Hearns is a beast but if you can get inside his 'range' he's there to be hit, and his chin was vulnerable. Hagler was a tough style matchup for him.
Marvelous was on a search and destroy mission for that chin. No amount of jabbing by Tommy was going to prevent Marvelous from getting at that glass.
Hagler was all over Hearns like lingerie on Oscar. Hearns did try to get some distance and box at times, midway through the first and he was boxing on the backfoot in round 2 and 3. Hagler kept getting to him. Hagler had a perfect gameplan, and the tools to use that gameplan successfully. If Hagler boxed like he normally did, then Tommy's chances increase greatly, but Hagler was not dumb and knew what he had to do to maximize his chances of winning.
Still ends in a Knockout.. Hagler would've kept stalking n stalking until Hearns slowed down n got eatin alive same way he did in the original classic.
