...Senior that is on June 10th 1977. Looking at Roy snr's record, I see where RJJ got his glass jaw from. Its no wonder why Senior was so overprotective of his son's career early on and didn't want to rush him to a title shot....and why he stepped in and put a stop to the Buster Douglas negotiations after him and his son had parted ways. Anybody have any clips of senior fighting? Always wondered if he had similar athleticism and quickness that Junior had in his prime.
I'm not sure if that was the same Roy Sr. I remember reading the book "Dark Trade" by Donald McRae, where Roy Sr. claimed it was, and the writer said he looked it up and it was a different Roy Jones, and how he found it interesting that someone would lie about being knocked out.
theres an interview with big roy in the most recent boxing digest, he says it was him i dont know if hes just perpetuating the myth or what, but i'm just telling u what it said
RJJ never had a glass jaw in his prime days, he WAS hit flush on numerous occasions and was NEVER wobbled. A 28 year old Hopkins landed flush shots on Jones in their fight but he never wobbled him. Hopkins may not be a homerun hitter but he obviously could punch hard.
