Maybe if Marvin had cut the ring off, the boy from Palmer Park wouldn't have been able to out box him.
Hate to say this but I agree with HAGLER! LEONARD did a lot of running in the last few rounds coz he knows he was winning!
:yep I'm reading George Kimball's 4 Kings right now. Very enjoyable; so far I do detect a slight tone of lionizing Marvin as the "protagonist" (although Kimball is careful not to step overtly across the line at the expense of his journalistic integrity). Very interesting perspective on all four guys (both the facts and the subtle editorial flow); and likewise hearing from the men themselves on the show has been a thrill. Looking forward to Tommy and Roberto's combined four cents. :good
Love that book. I also have "My View From The Corner" by Angelo Dundee, a VERY interesting read as well. Perspectives from Ali and Leonard's career, as well as Foreman's comeback. Dope ****.
SRL was a ****. Bigger gloves, ring, and 12 rounds. ****ing little *****. NOTE: SRL was a great fighter.
ive ben a fan of both fighters from way back in the old days. Every time i watch that fight i think the other guy won. It depends on the way you view the storyline that the fighters are acting out. I think after such a long layoff, SRR was feigning being tired and spent?,only to emerge with a fast rapid fire combo and then go back to looking tired so that he could do it all again. Hagler looked to have the heavier hands in that fight. But the ring generalship was all SRR. If Haggler thought SRR had been out of the game for too long so giving away all those considerations was ok at the time,he learned the hard way that you never give a sucker an even chance.
