Jeez what a read, and a rare one at that. Monroe shut him out for the first 7 rounds, what a fight this would be to see.

Looks like Pep and Rooster and the rest of the clan are to enjoy omelet, for the umpteenth time. Hopefully in the future they will show more restraint LOL

    Ha ha, thanks mate. :good

But seriously, it's a good fight report the Colbert one. Very long. It does give Marv some credit, he pulls it out the bag for sure.

    MDWC,

Nice one, have been looking for more info on this match for ages.

Perhaps the only occasion in Hagler's career when he was hurt badly (Mugabi?)...

cheers great read, one quick observation; does the 11-7 refer to weight, as the yanks dont usually use that form of weight classification

It's from our Boxing News. I actually missed the Monroe weight out (11-6).

He was actually born in Bristol (or his parents were from their at the very least).

This disproves the myth that the way to beat Hagler is to box and move. The article states that Monroe abandoned his previous tactics in order to slug it out with the marvelous one. I have to believe marvin was either not up for this fight as in the Geraldo fight or was sick as he claimed.

I watched Monroe vs. David Love that same year and he didn't look so tough to me and gets wobbly like Sugar Ray Leonard when tagged cleanly-swaying in the wind like some drunk.

Monroe sucks. hagler rules and became champ and greatest middleweight ever. :p

Rating Hagler is a tough one- he had some inexplicable off nights and some amazing performances which after watching you really think no one could beat him. Was he small for a Middleweight, because Duran looks almost as big in their fight
