Its hard to place anyone over Hopkins. That man is a genius. But i didnt follow Monzon or Hagler so i cant really put him above them.
I haven't seen enough of Monzon to make an informed decision. Hagler was the first fighter I ever saw (against Hearns, no less). Hopkins is one of my absolute favorites. I don't know who ranks higher between the 3. They are probably all interchangeable. All I know is I'd love to see a mythical bout between Hopkins and Hagler, that would have been something else. :smoke
Hagler is a personal favourite of mine but as an all-time great middleweight Monzon is difficult to better. The quality of his opposition and his dominance over them - plus his longevity - make him a likely number one. Hagler and Hopkins achieved similar feats at middleweight imo. In terms of how they would fare in mythical matchups... it's much more difficult to tell. If we're talking prime against prime, the Hagler that bust up Minter would be hard to deny. Monzon was pretty special too, while Hopkins was for me the least formidable of the three greats.
Hopkins would have given any of those guys a fight and had a good chance. I think a mover with hand speed always gives Bhops problems even a blown up Sugar Ray.
