for my opinion Hagler win close. dominate second half of contest. just with grind & wear down Leonard. tighten up defensive guard & outwork. & remain strong for full duration. Leonard is too much hold & slow down in second half then.
    but very close fight

True on both. Leonard fouled his way through the early rounds against Hagler.. Anything he did was OK. Injustice.

Like I said, you have nothing that shows a comparison. You cant produce anything so you attack me

    and I'm still here

I actually looked up some of his comments and I believe I have pinpointed the reason for your animosity. It's because we both have a high regard for Norris

and if you look at the record, he is for the most part, very successful

However, Roosters comments towards Leonard's downfall are very harsh especially when it comes to him rubbing it in as Leonard was humiliated at the hands of Norris. This rubbed Leonard fans the wrong way which lead to the hostility

All I said was that Norris was better and faster, and that's all I said. I never put Leonard down. In fact, I pointed out how Leonard actually did BETTER than most challengers because he lasted the distance, an accomplishment in its own right.

How could he know that Norris was that much better than public perception???

also, I did no celebrating over Leonard's loss.. Like you, I felt pain and was even aghast at some of the things I saw such as hitting Leonard while down

Leonard did okay in the first, and I thought was building momentum in the second until Terry began to cut loose.

Some guys are just too dangerous in one on one action. You hit them harder, and before you know it, you're on the floor.

When he struck Leonard while down I thought "Isnt he doing well enough, does he have to strike him while he's down?"

and after the KD, it was all downhill. Norris just seemed like too formidable an opponent that night

I used to have a puppy dog who followed me around like Hagler followed Leonard around in their fight.

    He was a good boy.

Hearns was an attack dog. The Hit Man is the correct answer here.

    LOL!

Here’s the “Old” Rooster, in the heat of “debate”, crowing absolutely nothing for all he’s worth to block out all logically sound refutations. As they say, “Knock yourself out!”

Even allowing for the bandwidth for contention (viz: A draw or Leonard over Halger or Hagler over Leonard) the zero margin or arguable margin for either is notably less than the clear margin Hearns beat Leonard by, with two very hard KDs enroute and various “shakers” landed otherwise.

I’ll frame my answer, Jeopardy style: “Who is Thomas Hearns”. I believe this is a Double Bonus round for the win also. Hehe.

I only made reference to the old Red Rooster.

Norris has nothing to do with this thread, acute and unhealthy obsession with the man notwithstanding..

You could never make my day.

However, the obvious Freudian slip by way of your indignant response was good value.

While we’re here -you shouldn’t blatantly misquote other posters -either back it up or back it up and apologise.

A lesser great than Leonard would have laid down and accepted a DQ win which would have been 100% justified!

Worked for Luis Santana, TWICE!!!!!!!

    OMG!!!!!!! :meparto:

You should have been here waaaaaaay back in the day.

Rooster was raging over Hagler - Leonard, as per usual. So he tells us Hagler was shot and that was proven as the Weaver triplets were beating him up in sparring and Hagler couldn't hit them etc. So we "egg" him a bit and he says "I WAS THERE"!!!!!! So we egg him on further and he threatens to put up a photo he took watching proceedings. This was of course a red flag to a bull as we ramped it up.

Sure enough up comes this photo (we could post pics then) from the back of, from memory, a tent or open arena with sparring going on in a ring

Him putting this up meant, to him (and obviously him alone), that we'd been provided irrefutable proof that Hagler was shot as he was there, proved he watched the sparring and saw him getting whooped in by the Weaver triplets.

You had to be there but it was one of the great Rooster moments.
