Hagler is the better boxer, Marciano has more raw ability. Ill take Marciano here, more consistent winner, better top shelf wins
interesting.. you think Marciano has the better resume?? Hagler cleaned out the division twice and has one of the best 10 in a row name wins, I have ever seen
Aside from genuine, one-punch knockout power, I'm struggling to see any area where Rocky has an outright advantage here. In terms of their durability and brute strength I'd say they're comparable: I think it'd be splitting hairs to think too much about those areas. But Hagler at his very best could slip in to a gear that Rocky wasn't quite capable of in my opinion. A bit quicker than Marciano, a better and smoother combination puncher, could counter-punch brilliantly, much more consistent and damaging jab when he chose to use it. If Hagler did have one area which occasionally let him down, it was arguably his ring smarts from time to time as he had a habit of making things a little more complicated for himself than he need have done (Antuofermo I, Duran, Leonard etc.). But even then I'm not sure Marciano has much claim for being a smarter fighter. Rocky was no adapter; he utilised his great physical strength, conditioning and power to win his fights. Brawn rather than brain if you'll excuse me painting in broad strokes. Both special in their own way, but as an all-round package I think Hagler was the better fighter.
Thank goodness george i thought you were doing a heac to head thread . I was thinking to myself " no way. George wouldnt make a head to head between hagler and marciano " *clicks on thread* *relieved*
To be honest, it's not much better than that. It was to prove a point to @The Undefeated Lachbuster after an argument. I knew what the consensus would be when I made, it's almost as it there's a right answer...
Rocky adapted in LaStarza 2 and Moore, I would definitely give him adaptability over Hagler Also he has the advantage in stamina and workrate I must say your comment is the most reasonable I've seen so far
