Hagler should of been 65-1-1

Marvin's already in my top 20 P4P list. The first Watts and Antuofermo decisions were definitely iffy but I scored his fight with Leonard 7 - 5 in rounds for Ray.

 

Bouts should be scored fairly, unbiased, not by favoritism, feelings about a fighter should have no bearing on scoring. I have my favorites but do not make excuses for them at any time.

 

Hagler could have been 65-1-1. Should have been is much more debatable.
And 62-3-2 ain’t bad at all.

 

Hagler is one of the greatest boxers, and best the Middleweight
in the history of the sport.
But he had his flaws. Just like every pro fighter in the history
of the sport. He could be taken out his game . It happened
in multiple fights.
Watts, Monroe, Antuerfermo, and Leonard, and to a certain
extent Duran proved that.
Unfortunately he never got the rematch with Duran or Leonard
to clean the slate or for a better showing against those two ATG's.
He was 2-1 against fighters considered great... Not to bad in itself.

 

I think the controversies enhance his rep rather than diminish it. All of the greats have close controversial decisions both for and against them. That's the game and shows you fought the best on equal terms. I feel more bad for guys who were brilliant but never got their shot, got their shot too late or were screwed in their one chance and never got another. I wouldn't feel too bad for Marv, he made a ton of money, is a lock for top 3 MW of all time and features in some great fights that fans will enjoy forever.

I can't stand to see a grown man cry or snivel. Excuses are like everyone's behind, everyone has one. Time for adult athletes to man up and grow a pair. If the fighters would fight, stick to their game plans they would not have this Woe Is Me Attitude. Sugar Ray Leonard had been out of the fight game for 3 and a half years, no warm up fight to challenge Hagler, but in Hagler's past, he seemed to drop the big one at the big moments. Leonard won fair and square, rematch? Sometimes we should be careful what we wish for, a rematch might have been worse. I never make excuses for any of my favorites, if they sucked that night, I will always truthfully tell it like it is. Hagler should have went out and kayoed Leonard but didn't, that is why he lost.

 

Pretty much this theres a difference between your opinion on what a fighters record could be, rather than a flat out vast majority where pretty much everyone agrees Whitaker should've beat Chavez for example.

Leonard/Hagler is a very debatable fight that is split down the line, I scored it recently and had it 114-114.

You can't change a fighters record on a decision that is very debatable, it's not like it was anywhere close to being a robbery like Chavez/Whitaker.

 

I love Hagler one of my favourites but I couldn’t have put it better Richard.

By most accounts, the Monroe loss was fair

I thought Hagler won that Watts fight in which Watts got the decision, and thought Hagler won when he drew with Vito

I had the SRL fight 114-114

 

To the poster: thank you. Marvin’s great legacy was tarnished by poor judging. Arguably the best chin of all time, plus better record than the other Four Kings, who each ultimately suffered humiliating losses, something that never happened to Hagler.
