I love Marvin Hagler, but the man is still clearly bitter about the SRL decision and it's clear Floyd reminds him of that "my way or the highway" SRL negotiation tactics. And the Marvelous One is being quite the hypocrite right now considering he never moved up in weight class to challenge anybody larger than himself.

That being said: The Berto fight is trash. Can't argue with that.

We know Hagler, Hearns, Duran or SRL would've challenged themselves more than most fighters today and been regarded highly for it win or lose, I just can't see Mayweather or Pacquiao fighting Golovkin.

When did Hagler move up in weight to challenge anybody? The man is being quite the hypocrite right now. Hagler didn't even move up 1 weight class, but he's being critical of Floyd for not going up to his 6th to fight a man that will outweigh him by 20 pounds on fight night. Total hypocrite.

Asking a featherweight to move up to middleweight is a ridiculous "demand for acceptance." Yes, Duran beat Barkley in a display of boxing brilliance for a "piece" of the 160 title, but that was a tough fight for Duran, and we're speaking about Roberto Duran!!! (Many have Duran in their top 10 ATG lists) I think it's unfair to chastise fighters for not accomplishing historic things and I doubt any featherweight will do what Duran did.

If Hagler put his money where his mouth is, he would have tried to fight Michael Spinks at light heavyweight.

I was going to add Hagler had the quality around him not to have to search onwards and upwards, if Golovkin had a division like that he most likely wouldn't need to call out a guy below him to get a decent challenge.

He's being a hypocrite. Hagler could have "challenged himself" and moved up to fight Michael Spinks and never did. Don't ask others to do what you aren't willing to do yourself.

At least when Duran is critical of Floyd, he can actually talk about how he moved up in weight class. Hagler has ZERO room to talk on the subject. The man didn't even "try" to move up to challenge a larger fighter.

You know when a retired legend speaks up like that, there's no BS involved. Just like all us non biased fans who see way past Floyd's smoke and mirror bs. Floyd facing berto is the biggest spit in the face to boxing fans I can imagine, and its even spitting in his own fans faces except they still love it and think it's holy water lol

I think both Floyd and COTTO would be fools to let this rematch slip thru their hands.

Floyd beating Cotto at 160 would be epic.
Not that Cotto is the best MW in the world, but he's certainly top 5 H2h, and letting himself come in at full weight would give him a nice size advantage over Floyd, even though he's quite comfortable fighting at 154, whichever.

I know Cotto vs Canelo is a big fight, but Mayweather fighting a "rejuvenated" Lineal MW Champion would certainly bolster his claim of TBE, even if it's ridiculed right now b/c GGG is the man to beat at 160, and Mayweather somewhat had his way with Cotto already at 154, and Trout beat Cotto in better fashion than did Mayweather.

Floyd wouldnt have to cut a lb, wouldnt need his 4lbs of IV nutrition, and Cotto would only have to cut 6lbs to make the MW limit.

This fight would sell easily over 1.5 million buys.

Wouldnt come close to May Pac, but it'd make Floyd over 100 mil, and Cotto over 40 mil.

    :thumbsup

with guys like Duran, Hearns and Leonard around, why would be have to move anywhere else?:patsch

The point is Floyd has no competition in his weight class, if he wants to retire, so be it, but don't go sparring some complete bum, wrapping it up in nice shiny paper with a bow and call it an actual fight. Otherwise, step the hell up and fight GGG like a man. Finally give your fans something to watch and be proud of win OR lose. Great fighters fight great fights! Floyd says he's the greatest ever, so where the heck are these amazing fights?

I couldn't care less to see him fight Cotto again, at any weight, he's already beat him and will beat him again most likely. Not interesting to me at all.

Duran, Hearns, and SRL weren't in the division during his entire reign. You're making up facts. Fact: Hagler could have moved up to LHW to challenge Spinks (And before Spinks, Qawi) and never did. He has ZERO room to talk about guys "moving up in weight to take on challenges."

Secondly, every single fighter you listed MOVED UP IN WEIGHT TO CHALLENGE HAGLER!!! Hagler didn't do ****. And I'm a big Hagler fan, but let's just keep it real shall we? And 2 of those guys went higher than the Middleweight weight class. So the two welterweights went up to LHW, but the Middleweight couldn't?

They started lower (Hearns/SRL), but went higher than Hagler did in weight. Yet Hagler has the nerve to complain about a guy who has fought in 5 weight classes, when he couldn't even fight in 2? Spare me. I don't listen when people are being hypocritical.

That being said, I'll repeat it again: The Berto fight is trash.

    ^This

Hagler is clearly jealous and bitter of Mayweather and his financial success. Hagler only fought in one got damn weight class and he's trying to dog a man who's fought in five for not fighting a guy who's 2 divisions heavier. Its stupid and it makes no sense but Floyd is so hated that people don't care about facts and logic.

Floyd's had some damn good action fights and tough fights. Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Cotto, Maidana I etc..Don't act like every fight has been a walk in the park. People just won't be satisfied unless they see him lose so then they can try to say his whole career was sham.
