Nah, Hagler went over Hearns's lazy jab and hit him with a big right hand on the temple. Then he followed up with two more rights.

Hearns was taking good shots before that as well.

Marvin at his most destructive best. Tommy at his most destructive best. What a fight! The better man won! No disputes!

Agreed, People say Hearns could of outboxed Hagler by keeping him ay distance but theres no way the Hitman could of held Hagler off for 12 rounds.. There was only one man around at the the time that was capable of it and that man was Sugar Ray Leonard.

I doubt Hearns could've won mainly by boxing Hagler and using distance. Hagler changed up his style and was all over Hearns, and as Hearns said, he had to "gain some respect".

When Hearns did try to box Hagler midway through round 1, he had some success, landing some rights at range, but Hagler was able to cut him off and get him on the ropes. By the time Hearns got off the ropes by the end of the round, his legs were doing a dance. They were rubbery for the rest of the fight.

I think their heads came into contact, but I don't think it was a butt.

Yes it was that kinda fight, it was raw and rugged.. The heads came close a lot for the three rounds it lasted but the final contact was in many ways a formality, it was just an insult added to the shots Hagler finished it with,, Tommy was just not as hardy as Hagler and his resistance was in someways his downfall.. The Barkley fight and the Kinchen Fight showed how easy he could be hit and The Hammer Roldan proved too that Hearns was not invincible when caught clean.. If his resistance was better he would have been unbeleivable against any Middleweight through time.. But as it stood, he wasn't so bad !! ha ha .. Tommy was phoenomenal..

Hearns was still fighting with a broken hand though,a full functioning hand would have been interesting. A credit I guess to Haglers hard head. Hearns even complimented him after the fight as to "you have a great weapon there" I guess they've remained pretty close.

hearns was hurt by a right hand and the heads go close then he gets hit with another right hand and goes down

the head might have helped but theres no doubt in my mind he was going down

Wouldn't have made a difference, Tommy was done.

Hagler got a little alarmed when he was taken to have his eye looked at by the physician.. It sped up his demolish mode and he just pushed harder for a finish , probably 2 rounds less than he would have needed.. Tommy looked a bit shaky for most of that round though, he looked kinda gaunt too, He always appeared as if he was a different animal, from a completely different body make up to Marvins... Marvin looked complete that night.. Tommy looked sharp but fragile in many ways...... Shame the hand injury hung over that fight...

Hearns was hit by a right hand which was a pretty good punch. I am surprised Hearns got up after that punch.
